Before I started listening, I was clueless, confused, hopelessly single, and estranged from my family and cat. Now, thanks to Alan and Smitty, I no longer need to count on my fingers, and can form thoughts other than ‘FIRE TOMLIN’ every time I get upset. My family and cat love me once again and women no longer find me repulsive (until I talk for 45 minutes about the glory days of Roosevelt Nix.) If you enjoy living your life under the oppressive shroud of your own stupidity, over-reactions, and mark-dom; tune in to something else! If, however, you enjoy high level analysis, POVs from people in the building, and discussion for people with the intellectual ability to fasten shoes with something other than velcro; this might be the show for you.

I saw a dude in Sam’s Club the other day wearing some Steelers gear (which is not super common since I live in Flagstaff, AZ) and I showed him that I was listening to your podcast. We ended up sitting down over some pizza slices and had a 20 minute Steelers conversation. As complete strangers!! It was amazing. I would like to let you know that it’s not quite the same doom and gloom over here in the mountains as it seems to be in the rust belt heart of Steeler Nation. Could you tell me though, from a day-to-day perspective, is it just the friggin’ best being a Steelers fan in the actual Steel City? Like are you just fighting off friendly yinzers wanting to have an interaction like I had everyday to the point where you can’t even run your daily errands? Is there Steelers gear at Wal-Mart?!? I’m so sick of seeing Cardinal’s garbage peddled everywhere; NOBODY wants to wear red…. I really hope it’s the Black and Gold Mecca I’ve always dreamed of visiting and I hope y’all aren’t too jaded from living that Here We Go life every day. Just remember: you’re not in Cleveland.

I thought I would only listen occasionally to a team-specific football podcast, but I love what Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith put together and now listen daily. If you are a Steelers fan that enjoys insights from a writer who’s with the team week in and week out, Alan does it as well as anyone out there and the podcast format is great! Keep it up and take good care of yourselves.

I am a true diehard Steelers fan and there is only one podcast I will listen to and that’s Steelers afternoon drive. These are guys who truly know Steelers football. Many podcasters don’t know understand how the Steelers organization operates. Alan and Zach give you true and entertaining information on what they know they see on the field and inside the building. Definitely give them a listen!

This past spring I found myself just craving some Steelers…. Steelers anything…. Football anything…. Time had passed from the Superbowl and the loss in Buffalo and it was time…. Time for some Steelers. My sons watch plenty of YouTube, plenty of mindless YouTube I may add, and that’s when I decided to type Steelers football into the search. Plenty of shows became available to me, more shows than I could imagine really, it hadn’t dawned on me that there are so many out there. That is when I changed my viewing and listening habits to podcasts…. Completely new to me, the idea that all we’re talking about is the Pittsburgh Steelers… how did I not know this avenue was available. There are dozens really, and finally I had a source to tap into, a fix if you will… I had a fever… and the only prescription was… I’m sure you get it. There are many good ones and there are some real bad ones as it goes with anything that you find once you tap into a new source of information, entertainment, and updates on your favorite team. It’s out there… whatever your team, whatever your sport, whatever your whatever is… it’s out there, and there is a lot of garbage, as I found, while laying in bed more often than I wanted too. Weakening from the chemotherapy and radiation I went through, I found myself having to rest more than I like to, and Around the Horn and PTI, Sportscenter all good programs… But, I finally found something to entertain myself other than ESPN and get right into the bloodstream of the Black and Gold via these beat writers and I was hooked. Alan Saunders has a football IQ much higher than most of them out there, just about all of them barring a few. As well as the team… Smitty, DB, Fairbaugh before he left, all with superior football IQ, that has the wit to match and the personality that you just can warm up to. And of course you don’t have to stop there… like, subscribe, hit the notification yada yada yada and I became a member of the Steelers Now website (completely worth it, it’s a minuscule amount out of pocket for what you get in return) and when I say it’s the show of the shows, that’s what I mean. The best one of its kind. I watch others, there are some very respectable guys out there…. Matt Williamson exhibits the same IQ as well as has a great story telling way about him as do the guys at Steelers Now. Noah and Nick, Nick Fairbaugh in his new venture, Chris, Dale, DK and a couple others are entertaining and I appreciate what they offer, as well as going on each others podcasts, but my go to show when I’m relaxing and ready to enjoy the recap, news and notes hot takes and opinions from Steelers Nation is the Afternoon Drive. It is “The Show of The Shows”… appreciate all the work and the commitment to keeping us informed and entertained…. Thanks Alan and Smitty and DB! Thank you guys, appreciate all you do…

Alan gives an honest, no-nonsense breakdown of Steelers football. His perspective is one I have come to rely on as a fan. A local writer who is in the lock room, knows football and the players better than the national media- am and pm shows are how I start and end my day. Zach is a wonderful co-host and makes this duo my favorites by far. Fridays w DB/Morning and Afternoon Drive A++

Just guys talking sports with no theatrics or know it all attitudes. Really enjoy this show. Reminds me of the conversations I have over a beer with buddies. Look forward to each new episode.
