Angie the safferAn honest, respectful discussion about gender and other psychology topics.Stephanie Winn offers a wealth of knowledge and truth during a time when others are adhering to political correctness that is in fact nonsense. I was especially excited about episode 152 because universal truths are so important to us as Catholics. Stephanie’s guests are from varied backgrounds, so the show offers different perspectives on human development and interactions. I thoroughly enjoy her discussions and appreciate her courage. She defends the truth, which helps protect people facing inappropriate pressure to consider gender as the root of their problems.

Original_OwlThe podcast we all neededI’m so relieved to hear a mental health professional dissecting the woke mind virus. Thoughtful, engaging, Informing.

Lakerfan313Great PodcastI genuinely this podcast because it helps my mood and also provokes thoughtfulness on controversial issues. I don’t always agree with Stephanie but I like listening to her perspective. And I appreciate her willingness to be open minded. And her excellent questions of guests. I highly recommend her podcast.

KingRichard68Affirmation careI love this podcast because it relies on reality and outcomes. Not sloganeering.

ChristoCsipkayHighly relevant content, well done! These podcasts have been immensely helpful to me as I take a critical look at my long time progressive/liberal background and step back a bit from the more rigid, polarized ways of understanding cultural issues that seem so pervasive these days. The interviews have helped me to be more thoughtful, values-based, and just open to being surprised and challenged, both in my personal life and in my work as a therapist. Very much appreciated.

Bina 2023Great podcast!I love hearing this podcast. Stephanie is smart, clear and insightful. As a fellow Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I can attest that she is ethical and knowledgeable.

TRBOSOBDon’t Listen to Any Parenting AdviceI am a concerned trained psychologist who has read Winn’s parent group recommendations & they are unethical/borderline abusive. I don’t think there is any empathy coming from Winn…this show’s goal is the “therapist is trying to cash in & become famous” by taking advantage of the exploratory therapy but I don’t like grift by an amateur. I also believe teens deserve an empathetic…and skilled clinician not someone who sells swag & a lot of a lack of intellectual curiosity. I don’t understand why guests do not do their research before going on this podcast.

2cheap4therapyEpisode 65—Conservative patients in therapyThis is first epidsode of your podcast I have listened to and I hesitate to write this because I think the responses will be some form of name calling. I agree that when we vote for a President we are not necessarily endorsing all thier policies. For example, I think Biden relies on votes from organized labor yet does not do nearly enough for the unions, and I think the precipitous withdraw from Afghanistan was awful. But, I voted for him because while flawed, he believes in climate change and has adopted policies to put us on a better track; he is pro-choice and he supported the Equality Act. So I wonder. Why did you voted for Trump? Which of his policies do you agree with? Maybe we have some agreement. It would be important to for me to know if you supported his actions towards undocumented people; LGBT community and reproductive rights. To me these are good proxies to understand your core values which may not align with yours. Which is okay. This is just to say that sometimes knowing that your therapist comes at life from a different angle is helpful in determining if we will work well together. Knowing what compelled you to vote for Trump would be more useful. To me, those are fundamental issues—or perhaps core values—and if you supported Trump on these issues, we could not work together. I would be wondering if you were judging me or held some animosity towards me.

BillstoInteresting ShowBut there is little substance to promote self assurance. Too many people are taught to perceive themselves as victims, but this is never discussed. Is it more “establishment” garbage or just a victim consoling victims because the Therapist is unable to think critically?
-
ChristineNYCIntelligent, thoughtful and compassionateThis podcast is my new favorite. I’ve always been fascinated by psychology and this is a good mix of accessible and technical concepts. It could help people deal with their own lives or better deal with others.

kaya and guinnessAnother therapist has courageStephanie is stepping outside of the groupthink to challenge how our profession (Mental Health) has gone horribly wrong. She is open to difficult conversations, and I’ve watched her grow since she launched her podcast. She is extremely knowledgeable, and is simultaneously open to learning new ideas. I appreciate that her voice is out there and that she has built this podcast to platform other important voices.

NemoinfiniteThoughtful, MeasuredMs. Winn is a real therapist. I started listening to the show to learn more about trans issues, and it has not disappointed. She has really done her homework, and her guests are knowledgeable and insightful. I‘ve only listened to a few of the episodes that cover other topics, and I’ve enjoyed them so far.

KatewrbInteresting, intelligent, important conversationsThis is a great podcast that features intelligent and important conversations with interesting and expert guests. The host's interview style allows the guests to shine while also showcasing her expertise.

aspdofinqwevPhysicians, take note!Thank you, Ms. Winn, for your careful thought and courageous words challenging the current, insane craze to "transition". As a retired physician, I look on with horror at the medical interventions involved with so-called transitions. This is clearly an atrocity that needs to be challenged, exactly as Ms. Winn has done. She has helped me to clarify and consolidate my thinking on this important issue, and I strongly recommend her comments for everyone in the medical profession.

violin joeSmart, timely, enlighteningBy far one of the most important podcasts de jour. Stephanie Winn knocks it out of the park with the selection of guests and topics. And important discussion in every episode - how is the world (politics, culture, etc) affecting the world of counseling, and what does that mean for clients and therapists. Highly recommend adding this to your library!

LeavesInFallA racist, problematic podcastThis podcaster uses her title as a therapist largely as a way to share her political views, and sometimes links those beliefs to the field of therapy. In listening to her, what I realized over time was that she is using it as an Avenue to have political discussions, ones that raise significant red flags. Stephanie Winn lacks the nuanced thinking that is important for effective therapists to have. This is evident in her use of many straw man fallacies and inaccurate conclusions she draws while discussing complex issues such as systemic racism. Stephanie does not seem to think that systemic racism exists, making her a threat to all people of color who she may attempt to support in a clinical or educational setting. Additionally, a therapist who does not understand racism in America or some of the issues surrounding gender / the trans community cannot be considered 'culturally competent' (an ethical requirement of all licensed therapists). In episode 19 (starting around 35 min in while discussing the experiences that other black people have or have not actually experienced), Stephanie and Adam talk about their shared belief that black people cannot simultaneously be well off financially *and* experience discrimination in their lives. It is not possible for a therapist to even begin to have empathy or understanding for a client who experiences systemic racism, racially motivated microagressions, etc, if that therapist denies the wealth of research, data, and history surrounding her. She additionally criticizes various parts of the Black Lives Matter movement, including sharing her personal opinions on who George Floyd was as a person, which highlights her racism, and her inability to understand what actually happened among thousands of people across a continent who watched a long video of a police officer slowly killing yet another black human being in America. (Episode 19, 30 min in) (The George Floyd discussion can be found at 31:40) When a care provider is choosing to let their personal politics take the front seat, their clients are at risk. When a care provider ignores mountains of data and the lived experiences of millions of people, those clients are at risk. When a therapist thinks she does not have a huge amount of privilege by being a white woman and that her clients cannot be correct in the various types of discrimination they experience, people are at risk (including white people). Signed, A white woman who is also a marriage and family therapist.

ContradictorychancesCourageous CompassionI have struggled over the last few years as I have watched my colleagues get swallowed up into a professional world I no longer recognize. While I primarily listen to Serial type podcasts & shows like Blocked & Reported as a stress reliever/antidote to my professional world, this podcast has become a must listen. While other podcasts offer me comic relief listening to the quick witted repartee between hosts, Stephanie offers up nuanced conversation that allows you to gain insight into not only the subject matter - but also how it shows up in Mental Health/Social Work practice. In some episodes it’s almost as if I’ve attended a training/CEU but without the boring power points and name tags that always peel off. The subjects she covers are varied but always pertinent to current issues of the day & I’ve yet to come away from an episode without food for thought in my own growth as a person and as a professional.

yawncareYou must be some kind of conspiracy theoristWow! Was expecting a fresh take on gender stuff from a therapists lens. Instead, just another reactionary grift with the same paranoid uninteresting talking points from someone hoping to cash in on social movements they don’t like. Claims to promote exploratory therapy but really just affirmative therapy for rigid black and white thinking about gender. The interview with some dude who’s probably listened to too much James Lindsay call Marx a satanist was a nice touch. (An Alex Jones moment with out the entertainment).
-
redpilledgayAmazingAs a fellow mental health professional. Stephanie’s insights are powerful. She has compassion and guides a conversation so professionally.
-
changagarciaAlex Jones territoryI was so hoping for a thoughtful perspective of different ideas as a fellow mh provider. I’ve got questions about trans issues as well but it was embarrassing listening to Winn and Belcher pretend to know about history, social issues or mental health. Yikes!

vcofrezonA voice for the vulnerableAs a licensed therapist myself, I am so grateful for Stephanie being willing to bring light to issues that have been in the dark too long. We need more brave souls like her to fight for change to protect the most vulnerable. She is a great interviewer, and I have been impressed with her guests. Please give her a listen with an open mind.
-
Jenny.RogersGreat podcast!I’m a licensed clinical professional counselor and really enjoy listening to this podcast. I’ve had many concerns about what I’m seeing in my field, and Stephanie has the courage to address many of these concerns in a nuanced and thoughtful way.
-
Sunday morning musicianTruthStephanie has the courage to speak what most people are thinking and back it up with facts and data. I admire her candor and grace in the face of the cancel culture mob.
-
SarahinPDXHate speech and discriminationStephanie thinks she knows more than experts in the field. She disagrees with research out of UCLA, and other places while dismissing the experiences of transgender people. She finds an audience with parents who abuse their trans kids and others who subscribe to binary gender identities and find themselves stopping hormones. If you have paid Stephanie money as a client you may have a verifiable fraud claim against her and a malpractice lawsuit. Contact a lawyer specializing in malpractice immediately.

71925Essential help in navigating our insane worldStephanie is an absolute and rare gem who deserves and will ultimately find a very wide audience. Highly recommend the astonishing session with Helen Joyce in podcast #11, also viewable on YouTube, over 2 hours and every minute is worth listening to carefully.

9134291342Unethical behaviorsAs a therapist myself, this sounds unethical. When was the last time you took you law and ethics exam?

jisforjenniferSo informative!!This therapist has brilliant interviews examining the complexities of mental health and related issues with a keen understanding of what is happening regarding “gender.” She has an excellent breadth of interviewees and always adds to the conversation with her knowledge on the subject at hand. Highly recommended!!

Anelaura48Great honest and respectful conversation.Weather you agree w the convo or not, it is well researched info. It’s a brave act now-days to speak honest facts. Thank you!

Rory BowmanInteresting Guests so FarStar ratings for podcasts seem inherently silly. Since the format takes so much time, why would anyone listen to anything less than five stars, unless niche podcasts on some topic were a hobby? I am enjoying the first few episodes of this one, though, and hopeful for the future. The guest mix is interesting, as evidenced by the show on gun culture, and I’ll hope for this eclecticism to go forward. Pleasant and smart and promising.

Lladnek2The vanguard of a Hate movement designedThis woman is clearly pushing a dangerous agenda, to what few people will listen. Trans activists are supposedly the biggest threat to children, but then why does she not speak about how much guns are harming children, since more children are involved in school shootings than any ever become trans or even consider it. She never talks about the ostracism that people who support her help create(because if she had to reckon with laundering hateful talking points it would make her look bad) which is a part of what makes being Trans so dangerous for children in the first place and is a thing she should focus on as a therapist, but there’s no money in acceptance and actual facts. She never talks about actual numbers and hides behind scary percentages (75% increase from 4 to 7!!! zomg it’s a epidemic!) to make her perspective seem important. Because it’s a vanguard podcast for a hate movement, she platforms talking points that wingnut pundits like blaire white and Matt Walsh use. She hosts right wing black people who claim racism doesn’t actually exist, and that African Americans are just playing victim, and then proceeds to share racist and racist adjacent talking points to slowly expose average people to racist ideas or describe classically racist talking points as “the real truth” Her Twitter is full of complaints about how Portland is too woke. Woke now serves as nothing more than an acceptable slur for people in a vanguard hate movement. She is just laundering hateful right wing talking points with a fake intellectual veneer. It’s a grift where the host doesn’t admit she has an axe to grind against people who shunned her previously for over zealous leftist behavior, so now she has turned against the mean leftists who corrected her for being too hard a Sanders zealot and is trying to appeal to a different audience who encourages her as long as she says the right hateful stuff and doesn’t mention any of her other leftist leanings like horoscopes or polyamory. Beware the shows that claim to be neutral but are pushing an obvious agenda. It would be one thing if this person actually grappled with facts and numbers but she’s just pushing an agenda devoid of truth and interested in lying to people looking for an excuse to attack small vulnerable groups. Oh also, she was anti covid vaccine until she actually got long covid and had to delete messages saying her healthy lifestyle would prevent covid from harming her.

SJ&JHonest discussions by honest medical professionalsDon’t be fooled by defamatory critics. Activists these days call everything they don’t like, “racist,” “homophobic,” “transphobic” to get what they want. They’re like wizards who think they can cast a spell. Won’t work.
-
Diablo NerudaWhat your therapist thinks about when they’re not listening to your problemsIf you’ve ever wondered what your therapist thinks about and talks to other therapists about when they’re not listening to you and the particulars of your life, this is a good one. Stephanie does a wonderful job of unpacking the psychological aspects of social trends, making them coherent and understandable for listeners.
-
andrea_in_brooklynEmpowering emotional literacy here!!!The way we frame things in our minds sets life’s trajectory and determines how we feel, interact/react and these podcasts are gold! A much needed return to personal care, growth and responsibility and step away from the need to be catered to as a victim, or see others as such. Keep up the great work!!!
-
westonjtHomo/Trans phobicThis pretty much boils down to hate speech
-
ThatLooksStickyHate-castThis “therapist” spreads transphobic hate. I wonder who else are they spreading hate about? Would you trust someone like this with your health and confidentiality?
