LafavemMust Listen While PlanningAshley’s perspective is a fresh take on what’s out there online. We might not have had a completely unconventional wedding, but listening to The Unconventional Wedding Planning Podcast was able to help me think outside of the box & realize that just because I see a wedding trend online doesn’t mean I have to do that to have a great wedding. So happy to have found this podcast while planning! Only note to listeners, the audio levels on older episodes is very different between when she talks and when an ad plays, so be prepared to adjust your volume.

Computer 71My less conventional wedding was a successI love, love, love all the alternative ideas that Ashley gave. I had a lot of anxiety about the wedding, but we planned it to reflect who we are. From using our own potted plant collection for centerpiece to spending less that $100 on dessert pastries from a wholesale club. We also had a unique entrance to the ceremony. Bride & groom escorted in by both their parents. All meet at the end of the aisle, hug/etc. groom’s parents walk down the aisle, bride’s parents walk down the aisle, then the couple walks in together. We got a lot of compliments on this!!

fharen95True life adviceI binged this podcast for months leading up to our wedding. Every episode is packed with advice that we actually used and helped make our day almost completely stress-free! It’s perfect to listen at the gym or on a run. Great sense of humor too! Love it.

JustbeyondutopiaYour volume is too lowI would love to listen to more of your podcast, the ads are full volume and fine, but then the podcast starts and even on max volume in my car I can barely hear it. It’s a huge bummer. Please make the volume louder.

ivuebtbtnekaThe BEST wedding podcastI am currently planning my wedding and finding this podcast was the best thing that could have happened for my wallet, my sanity, and my future. HIGHLY recommend

pnwbetacollectorThe tongue smacking…omgI absolutely love most of the content and ideas. Ashley’s voice and content is great. But the tongue smacking is SO bad in this podcast, the host does it constantly. It’s fine every now and then, but its almost every other sentence…so cringe and distracting. It’s just a sound to fill dead air, it’s as bad as someone saying “like” all the time. I don’t think I can even finish the newest episode. Yes this is a “me” thing, but unnecessary sounds and ticks should generally be avoided in proper vocal delivery, especially with an audio media source.

Blarn PBFavorite wedding planning resourceThis is my favorite/ most grounded wedding planning resource! So excited for new content from Ashley! Also love your other podcast ❤️

DLsimbsLove itI’m so glad you’re back! I discovered your podcast several months ago and have been binging all of your episodes. Looking forward to tuning into your new content too!

Leadership NinjaThe most useful and authentic wedding podcastI think the host is the most pleasant, thoughtful, naturally talented, and unique voices in the podcast world. I appreciated how the content recognized the diversity of people. The norm tends to be very European or American culture centered. As a bicultural and bilingual individual I learned a lot from this unconventional wedding perspectives. Which really the main point she makes in every episode is that you have the ability to think critically and intentionally about what YOU and your partner want out of your marriage celebration and ceremony.

WMG86Love this podcast! Dare to be non traditionalAs someone who cancelled a conventional big wedding to elope and then have a surprise announcement reception, this podcast is a breath of fresh air. I feel so seen and it’s refreshing to hear a different perspective on weddings. Thanks for opening the space for unconventional weddings. I couldn’t have envisioned a better plan for us but it took a bazillion plans to get there as we kept canceling what didn’t work for us to find what did.

HeartFromAnotherEraGreat wedding planning podcastThis podcast has been giving me life while I plan my wedding. The host/writer never tries to promote herself or certain products, and she just gives good advice and raises important questions for engaged people to think about.

sfeliciano123Truly helpful tipsI’ve heard multiple podcast in a wedding planning and this is like no other. It’s very realistic to the time that we live in and to the modern bride. I highly recommend this podcast for anyone trying to stay grounded while wedding planning. Love the show!

jaymill061916A very realistic wedding podcastFINALLY…a realistic podcast about weddings. Very refreshing take on wedding planning and the wedding industry. If you want to have a wedding that’s personal, authentic, and doesn’t put you in debt, this podcast if for you. If you want you’re wedding day to be what YOU want and not what Pinterest/Instagram/your family wants, it’s definitely worth a listen.

KatieFroInsightful Perspective on Wedding Planning! My go-to wedding podcast during my engagement/planning season. She brings a realistic perspective to wedding planning, in an industry that is screaming for you to go bigger and spend more money. Highly highly recommend!!

futureswartz💜It is so nice to have someone tel the truth and remind you that your wedding can be whatever you want it to be! Big, small, conventional, unconventional: do it your way, own it, and don’t worry what others think.

ashleybashleybooSo gratefulThis is the one wedding planning podcast I’ve kept returning to again and again as I plan my wedding. Mine will be bigger and in many ways more conventional (like having a venue with a 100+ minimum guest count), but it’s been so refreshing and affirming to get to listen to Ashley’s insights, since my partner and I share a lot of her values about what’s really important about this day (spending time with our loved ones, not picking our “colors”). Thanks for doing you, Ashley!! It’s helping me do me!!
-
Naomi.elizRefreshing & helpful for non-traditional brideI stumbled upon this podcast in my wedding planning and have enjoyed following along in Ashley’s wedding planning journey. Though I’m having a large wedding with some traditional pieces, I am avoiding many of the more stuffy/old-fashioned/heteronormative traditions. As I decide what to keep and what to toss, I appreciate hearing perspectives from folks like Ashley. It’s refreshing to hear about wedding planning from a feminist, “you do you” lens. Also, wedding planning can be stressful and a lot of work - sometimes it’s nice to hear from someone who can relate, as none of my friends are wedding planning at the moment. I hope you make an unconventional parenting podcast if and when you choose to have kids, as it was interesting to hear about some of your parenting ideas in the baby fever episode!

meganisgermanMust Listen for my Fellow Unconventional PeepsI just love this podcast. If you’ve got non-traditional ideas for your wedding, there’s a chance Ashley had discussed them on this podcast! She has been extremely helpful in my own planning process, whether it is through validating some of my decisions or even giving me things to think about that I never would have thought to consider. A great resource for anyone planning a wedding that doesn’t quite fit the mold. Ashley, I want to congratulate you on your own wedding and thank you for creating this podcast! It has been wonderful listening to your plans in real time and hearing all about your wedding. Can’t wait for you to continue to share your wisdom now that you’ve done the dang thing!
-
Najila3Down to earthAfter listening to another wedding planning podcast, I felt pressured and panicked to be doing all the things they were describing and overspending in the process. This podcast was just what I needed! Ashley gives continual reminders that you can make your day whatever you want. She gives helpful tips as well. I appreciate that she makes an effort to avoid heteronormative assumptions. Thanks Ashley!!
-
cat2271She sounds like she has never had fun beforeI thought this was gonna be a laid back chill wedding planning podcast but it’s more of a Debby downer wedding planning podcast?
-
monicasillasb10/10 recommendI enjoy this podcast a lot! I really like how honest and true to herself Ashley is. She gives advice without judgment, it’s a safe space 🤍

knmendezSo happy I found this podcast!I’ve never left a review for a podcast before but I had to for The unconventional wedding planning podcast! This one speaks to me as we are planning a pretty unconventional wedding ourselves (no cake, no wedding party, & cocktail reception). This podcast has not only given me some great ideas but has helped justify my own unconventional wedding ideas. Looking forward to hearing more episodes!!

beans-82Surprise Elopement SuccessBack in mid February we found out that family was getting together in Florida to celebrate birthdays. We had actually just got engaged (after being together for 12 years)! We reached out to the organizer of the family weekend and asked if we could pinch an hour on a Saturday to do a wedding, and tell the family that we are doing photos at 5pm (photos will happen but only after a wedding ceremony!) She loved the idea and we had less than 3 months to pull off a surprise elopement wedding! We reached out a vendor to do the ceremony on the beach resort we were staying at and they had the date available! It was absolutely perfect! We had about 20 people there, we told everyone the wedding/photo scenario when they arrived to the resort and everyone was thrilled!!!! The vendor we worked with is a brother-sister team of 25 years doing beach weddings, the photographer is married to the brother of the vendor and the hair stylist has been working with the family for the last 22 years! I’ve always heard the nightmares associated with weddings: cost, drama, stress. We had absolutely NONE of that! We paid for it, it was our decision, and we let the professionals we hired do their work without any micro managing! Ashley in this podcast is very relatable and offers great suggestions when trying to find your own way to make your day special and budget friendly! Highly recommend for anyone needing assistance navigating through your own wedding!

cristyvelaComforting in these new timesI’m a bride to be of a small wedding in October 2021 and I came across this podcast during a rabbit hole search of all things wedding... and I’m so glad I did! The episodes are so comforting when talking about inviting guests and how to go about certain situations in these wild new times of wedding planning . It definitely makes me feel like I’m not the only one in this boat trying to have a budget friendly, Socially safe wedding!!
