-
pmorris314Awesome.A masterpiece. I love every episode. A fitting sequel to “The Book of Basketball.” It got me through the pandemic, as I walked my dog for eight hours a day.
-
jimmytMacMullan masterpieceJackie delivered something special with ICONS pods. Every one built on the previous to create a unique understanding of athletic stardom. Kudos ad infinitum.
-
Mr. Brown JBThis pod is perfection. The Ringer is my single stop for all my favorite content and this series is wonderful! My only complaints are that there is no video to go along with it and that there aren’t more of them. Great job Ringer team!
-
DehnTrainPlease do more!!Love Bill sharing his insights and how players have impacted the game. But, need to do more! Would love an in-depth analysis of your updated pyramid!!
-
nbanflnmlbnhlI love this podcastI started listening to podcasts Recently so there is a lot of these to listen to all the guests are great and bill Simmons is a great host
-
S_B_HongThis is my favorite podcastThis is so cool
-
fairport_jeffGreat Interviews and Insight!Tons of sound bytes by NBA legends in this pod! Jackie is an elite journalist and a good host but the pod is a lot more than just her talking the whole time. 5 stars
-
sebi23_roWOWVery professional and thorough.
-
LooklikekateNot your typical basketball podcast!I typically tune out sports podcasts my fiancé plays on our car rides, but not this time. When I heard Jackie’s Icons club series, my ears perked up and I found myself getting super into the series. Great writing, wonderful clips, and an insightful host make this series binge worthy. If more sports podcasts were like this, I would actually listen to them. Please continue passing the microphone to smart women, and do whatever you can to keep Jackie as the host!

Seatown81The Icon’sGreat pod stories thank you Jackie
-
Alex76Bo PeepBestOne of the best basketball narratives of all time. Amazing first hand descriptions of how generations pass the torch to new generations. What an amazing story teller and journalist. Thank you. There are some, in the comments, not understanding the greatest players in NBA history are also social justice heroes. Thank you for persevering and telling the story of one of the greatest engines of change in America.
-
splitting 6'sFor real basketball fansI literally got goose bumps at certain parts because it’s so well written. Thank you for this. The only thing I can say was missing was during Kobe and shaq tim Duncan should’ve been apart of it because of how dominant he was during that time period as well. Outside of that this was great

Chandler221Fantastic Series but only one issueI love the icons series Jackie has done here. The effort put forth really shows throughout the series. My only issue is the consistent characterization of Jacob Blake as unarmed during the shooting. He was not, in fact, unarmed. The police reports and eyewitness statements both reflect that he had a knife and had resisted arrest even after being tased multiple times. I appreciate the focus on black athletes influence on social justice movement in the past and present, but in this particular instance I do not agree with the framing that he was another casualty of police brutality. Police brutality does happen and the police do have a racial bias from my perspective, but I do not think the Jacob Blake shooting was one of those instances.

FSUcriminoleYuckTake a shot every time Jackie says social justice. Compensating much old white lady?

RCollinsJackie Mac kills it!Best basketball podcast I’ve heard and not at all surprised. Jackie Mac is an MVP and master storyteller. Thanks hear episodes were fantastic and I’m sad they are wrapping up, honestly. Wish there were going to be more. Minor disappointment was not having Magic or Bird interviewed for the Magic-Bird episode but as I said, this is a nitpick criticism. Outstanding series!
-
Rockyx23The Book of Basketball 2.0 is the best podcast on the ringer !!!I’m going to compare this podcast to the fast and furious series. Fast and furious was already good but when the rock joined the series it hit legendary status. Jackie MacMullan just shot this podcast to the moon. I hope this motivates Bill Simmons to comeback on this podcast.
-
ivanahumpalotsgive Jackie a million dollars!this is by far the best basketball content I have ever consumed. I wish Jackie Mac was my mom.
-

-
FuManchuMattyBMissed on this oneI was really excited about this one. I love NBA/basketball history. But the constant focus by Jackie on race was pretty discouraging. Like there are so many nuggets of greatness and the possibilities of this podcast could have made it one of the best, but there is always this push to speak about the racial side of things. I get it early on but what’s the need to go through and make it a big deal in every episode? It completely ruined the first couple episodes as there was this attempt at relating it to todays athletes. I guess sports must be political/social all the time now too huh? I used to like Jackie…this one gave me a bad taste. There are some definite good spots but overall I was disappointed.

gunomanIcons Club🤯Great Job Jackie!

JzechnowitzGreatest Podcast EverThis is NBA crack. Jackie M is an icon.
-
Kicco dRetired ha ha go Jacky goThank you for these incredible stories there’s enough daily podcasts out there they give us the ins and outs of what’s going on in today’s NBA what is great storyteller you are Jacky thank you
-
savvypaInteresting, but freneticI’m not a huge fan of the current NBA but I grew up during the Jordan and Kobe eras & I loved the idea of a behind-the-scenes look at the old guard. Jackie’s narration is great but I felt a tad lost during the episodes. While the individual stories/anecdotes presented are all fascinating and left me feeling like I learned something new, they didn’t live up to the series’ billing as a cohesive reveal at an exclusive club. It felt more like random stories loosely tied together through overarching topics (e.g. social justice).
-
joncoalEssential Listening for NBA fansThank you, Jackie!

MjreviewA must listen for basketball fans! One of my favorite podcasts ever. It’s so amazing that we get to hear all this for free
-
MikeBDavis97Icons clubReally looking forward to this one. Not enough people talk about Bill Russel and not just his impact on modern athletes but what he and a lot of others went through in the 60s(which is creepily not that long ago, which is nuts) my fiancé is a teacher and once did a subject on racism in sports and I asked if she’d be talking about Bill Russel and she said “no, who’s that” and I don’t know if it’s just because I’m a Celtics fan or a basketball junkie but I went on a whole silique about his impact and bottom line is: yeah, I’m looking forward to this podcast
-
