The Recovery Radio Podcast - KMP3 - Long-Term Sobriety in A.A.

56

I share my experience, strength and hope with you regarding my own recovery from alcoholism through the 12 Steps in Alcoholics Anonymous. By the grace of God I've remained sober since I was 18 years old (1989). I started drinking and using drugs very young. I got sober during a time when there were not a lot of young people in AA. Moreover, I was homeless. I got sober in the very same location I drank. I'm passionate about recovery, and about sharing my incredible experience with others in every way I can. I am sincerely happy, joyous, and free.

Inspiring and Uplifting with a twist
I’ve been listening to Recovery Radio KMP3 hosted by Clay and it has been a transformative experience. Clay’s genuine and empathetic approach make each episode feel like a personal conversation. This podcast is insightful whether you are walking a path of sobriety or not. Clay offers valuable perspectives with a bit of a sarcastic twist and will surely make you want to keep listening. Thank you Clay for your unwavering support and for creating a space where we can all feel understood and encouraged. Please don’t stop the male model jokes :) I highly recommend Recovery Radio KMP3 to anyone seeking support and encouragement in their recovery process!

    Sarcasm? Please.
Clay clearly has a firm understanding of the Big Book & recovery. I found his literature first which kinda’ resembles my path in AA. Both the literature and this podcast are excellent forms of his brand of carrying the message. Highly recommend!

    Life Changing
Stumbled upon this podcast a year ago and it has changed my life! So grateful for it. My understanding of the Big Books message was so twisted and garbled from what I heard in the fellowship. Clays understanding and application of the 12 steps are so clear and simple and all he does is “What the Big Book says”. I can’t say enough. Thank you!

    For Better or For Worse
I 100% agree with the message here. There are two main themes of the Podcast, 1) AA meets have twisted the message and strayed away form the Big Book. This hurts and has potentially dire and dangerous consequences to the newcomer. 2) The host, member of AA (Not a spokesperson for), IS very compassionate and is an example of the solution given in the Big Book of AA. The solution, of which I have come to learn by listening to this show, is meeting Fear, frustration, and misery with Love, even if its just a little bit of Love, it is a start. Episodes 131 and 132 are really heart felt.

    AWWWWWW YESS
Without the message that I learned from Clay’s podcast…aka SOLUTION-based recovery…I would be dead or at least dead inside. No joke. If you’re confused in recovery or you’re doing what you’re told and none of it is making sense I WAS YOU. There are so many instructions in AA and slogans that you cannot find in the Big Book, aka the book that started the biggest spiritual revolution in the past 2000 years. NO BIG DEAL. Clay brings the message back to the book and is the most compassionate person you will ever listen to. Clay understands how to communicate when there is work to do and that is ok to sit and be sad. Also, if you like Don Francisco’s coffee and Trader Joe’s french roast, you can pull up a chair and a cup with Clay any time. Recovery is about action. That is what I have learned and my life is incredible today because of the way that Clay simplifies the Big Book and a happily sober life. THANK YOU CLAY!

    Comforting
I struggled with finding the most fitting title of my review. Gentle, kind, heartfelt, honest, etc. Then I realized all of those things are comforting, and I suddenly had the title. I’ve experienced every kind of approach to sobriety imaginable over a 30 year period, from aggressive & demanding, to kind and loving with a sincere desire to be helpful. This gentleman has a sincere desire to be helpful. There is clearly no other motive with him, and when I listen to this podcast, I am comforted by the fact that the altruistic movement is alive and well. And it works. It really does.

    Great stuff
Love this podcast...seriously. That said, it’s a bit different from being powerless over alcohol vs will power to give up certain foods...lol. If i could simply commit to not drinking I would and be done with it!

    Really helpful! Great insight!
I didn’t know what I was expecting but what I got was some insight and perspective. I also laughed and felt myself just relax. The host made me feel at ease and I felt like I was right there. Love it!
