I lived in San Francisco for 14 years and I'm now on the East Coast. It's great to hear that. The vibes and thoughts are alive and well in the bay area! This podcast is so good. It's actually got me in the mood to start riding again. Great show… keep it correct! 🥳

    Fantastic podcast!
Annalee and Charlie are plugged in and well connected—their execution is excellent. The content they work with is fairly diverse, and they approach things from a well-informed vantage point. This podcast is one of several inspiring me to develop my own. Thank you both for an excellent contribution to the field!

    Giving me life every day
This podcast is giving me life every day. Just started listening (hosts were guests on another podcast) and started from the beginning. The hosts touch every kind of media I’m into and that I like. If I personally knew them we’d be best friends. I learn something amazing in every episode and am so happy it exists. Thank you and never stop!

    These opinions! So correct!
A+, relevant conversations on a scrumptious variety of ideas.

    Great Writing Podcast
Annalee Newitz and Charlie Jane Anders really delve deep into so many different aspects of writing - world building, tropes, gender in writing, and that’s just the beginning. One of my favorite episodes is where they spoke with Fonda Lee about how fight scenes should be used to change a character (i.e., fight scenes are part of a character’s arc). This is an amazing podcast where they look into so many different aspects of writing, and they don’t shy away from harder topics like gender and race. Highly recommended!

    My favorite podcast
This is my favorite podcast. I went back and binged every episode from the beginning. I’ve been fascinated by sci-fi and fantasy my whole life. I love listening to Charlie Jane and Annalee bring new meaning and understanding topics I’ve always thought about, and introduce me to new ideas I haven’t considered. Thank you so much for this amazing show!

    Fun and informative
I love the hosts, guests, and topics! I grew up reading scifi and fantasy but never had the lens to look at the themes and tie it all back to the world I live in (at least until I get my own spaceship). The hosts are thoughtful and widely read, and they have a genuine love for the topic that shines through. Take a listen!

    Thank Goodness for OOAC
OOAC is a consistent bright spot in these dreary times. Listening to their discussions is like hanging with the most fun, cheerful, cheeky, unapologetically geeky smartypantses—but without having to do the awkward and exhausting work of socializing yourself! I especially appreciate Charlie Jane’s recent comment on doing her best to eradicate ableism from her work (which I believe was on an OOAC Patreon episode, so you should probably support that if you can).

    Could’ve been great
After 15 episodes, I’m quite tired of the interruptions and clumsy takes on trans issues from the cis host. Also, this show handles spoilers just terribly. Anyway, Charlie is great and the show is generally smart but it’s not quite good enough as a whole for me to keep listening.

Intelligent, interesting and well done. They have great guests and pick topics that get me curious. I’m so glad I found this podcast.

    Love. Love. Love.
I’ve been listening to this on my daily commute to and from work, and often not just on my commute. I am in love with this podcast. Anders and Newitz are witty, thoughtful, and very engaging. You feel like you could be a part of the conversation, and I take so much away from every episode.

    Great Podcast!
Two wonderful brains are at work on this show! I have known Charlie Jane’s work for a number of years, and was so excited to discover this podcast and have the joy of listening to Analee’s brilliant mind in motion as well! If you’re not a huge fan of science fiction — no matter. This show covers lots of fascinating subjects, sometimes with Sci-Fi as simply as one of the lenses through which the topic is investigated. And the Sci-Fi-heavy episodes investigate so many relevant topics that you won’t even flinch if Sci-Fi isn’t your genre. Highly recommended!!

New listener and I'm already hooked
Charlie and Analee have a great chemistry and I'm really enjoying the topics available.

    So Glad I Found You!
I have to give props to the incomparable LeVar Burton who introduced me to Our Opinions Are Correct through his LIVE Reading of Charlie Jane Anders’ brilliant short story “As Good As New.” I’ll be binging until I’m caught up and will keep an ear out for new releases!

I have a professional crush on Charlie Jane and Annalee!!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always dreamed of being a hangers-on at the Algonquin Round Table or the Bloomsbury Group or one of the early Sci Fi cons. I’m not nearly smart enough to keep up with the likes of Dorothy Parker or Virginia Woolf or Ursula Le Guin, but I’d love to be the one sitting off to the side, invisible, basking in their amazing minds. That’s how I feel when I listen to Our Opinions Are Correct—the ideas are thrilling and terrifying and wonderful, and I want to invite them over for tea or whiskey and talk about quantum communication through dark holes and zero G toilets and what it feels like to if we could live natively in space. How thrilling would that be?! I have a deep and abiding professional crush on Annalee and Charlie Jane, and I would be excited to read the phone book if they had written it. I’m sure it would be fascinating! TT Linse

    Fantastic, funny, clever
This show goes in-depth with writers and genre fiction specialists, covering everything under two suns! Science, cuteness, worldbuilding, plot, Dune and more. Inclusive and expansive, the host are charming and have smooth, engaging patter with one another, asking unexpected and excellent questions of their guests. A great way to have some company!

    So very good
This podcast has it all: in-built conversation since there are two people; brilliant ideas and analysis; lots of fun, erudite guests. I have been reading science fiction since I was 9, so nearly 60 years. Annalee and Charlie Jane bring some of the best insight to the genre—they are just the bee’s knees!

    Great Podcast!
Just found out about this podcast and have been getting down! They’re a blast to listen to back to back. This podcast is amazing and so is Anders’ All The Birds In The Sky. You should totally check out both!

    So Smart!
Just found this podcast and it is fantastic! The hosts are engaged in their topic and they really love and appreciate science fiction, both current works and the more classical works! I am 68 years old and an English major. I have been reading Scify since I was 8: a long time! I enjoy the thoughtful analysis of novels and themes and the richness of the ideas discussed. They treat this genre with the respect, enthusiasm and awe that it deserves. Thank you for providing stimulating discussion that helps me find new works and appreciate what I read!

    LOVE the Energy
Love the energy in this show because, yes, indeed, they’re correct. It’s lovely to hear the hosts’ and guests’ opinions on sci fi and beyond! Listening to this podcast feels like chatting with friends, but those friends REALLY know what they’re talking about! Plus any show with lady and queer creators gets bonus points in my book :)

    Literally Obsessed
I’m a literary studies student who nerds hard on science fiction. This podcast is the perfect mashup of what I study and what I love. Since discovering it, I have binged it and revisited favorite episodes. 10/10 a must listen!

    Insightful and delightful!
Bless Annalee Newitz and Charlie Jane Anders for sharing their insights, enthusiasm, and general geekery for speculative fiction (SciFi, Fantasy, Horror, etc) with us in podcast form. They joyfully romp though speculative fiction tropes and thoughtfully connect them to historical and cultural trends. And along the way, they make great recommendations of stories to read and tv shows and movies to watch. Recently, they’ve made a deliberate effort to embrace both hope (see episode “F*ck Your Nihilism) and escapism (see the most recent episode “9 New Shows You Should Be Watching Right Now”). Many thanks to Anders and Newitz for embracing hope and intellectual engagement with the speculative stories we tell. Now go listen to the show!

Essential Listening for the Savvy Science Fiction Reader
Hard truths baked into a form you can spoon feed to stubborn family over Thanksgiving dinner! Conversations on race, gender, and politics all become more digestible delivered in the delectable slurry of witty banter and bonkers Sci-Fi anecdotes that Annalee and Charlie Jane serve it in. I bounce arounnd between episodes and always find interesting new things to read and watch from their myriad recommendations. Their opinions really ARE correct!!

    Just fantastic!
This has become my go-to podcast. Annalee and Charlie Jane help me see new perspectives on my existing nerd knowledge and provide plenty of new ideas for me to obsess over. I also recommend this podcast if you want to learn about active listening, because the way Charlie Jane listens and participates in conversations is amazing. The biggest problem here is that now I want to be best friends with them.
  • CameronNell
Their opinions are, in fact, correct
This podcast has provided thoughtful analysis on the media and stories I love, and introduced me to many new works and creators. Especially as a young person who didn’t live through much of the history of fandoms and these genres, the hosts’ perspectives and background are invaluable. They provide good context and make it all approachable.
  • cuthbertrs
    I don’t like sci-fi
But I love this podcast. The hosts’ takes on so many important topics and the way those topics connect to sci-fi are always enlightening, fun, and interesting!

Brilliant, efficient use of your time
Incredibly smart, but you don't need to be a sci-fi expert to listen to this. This podcast is definitely for you if you like Geek's Guide to the Galaxy Pivot Nerdist Reset Metis in Space Hidden Forces Ockham's Razor Literary Hangover Writing Excuses Hosts are heavyweights in the field and they always draw great connections between culture/science/politics that I would not have thought of. If you are looking to get new insights efficiently, this is for you!

Great explorations of science fiction themes!
I discovered this podcast in the fall of 2019, and I've already listened to the entire back catalog. Engaging hosts having deep discussions on interesting themes in science fiction. What's not to love about that?

    Simply Phenomenal
Do you enjoy engaging discussions about the intersection of sci-fi and society? Then this is the podcast for you! Annalee Newitz and Charlie Jane Anders are simply amazing. Deeply knowledgeable and engaging they shed light on how science fiction, fantasy, and horror can inform our view of the world. The only negative is I am binging so fast I will be caught up in a couple days!

Do You Care About Survival of the Human Species?
Well, then, you should be listening to this podcast. Charlie Jane and Annalee talk about all the things—how science fiction tackles all the important questions we have about life. Listening to them gives me hope for the future and reminds me why I love science fiction so much. Capitalism, time travel, cultural appropriation, sex, branding, the apocalypse. All of it. They’re smart, they’re irreverent, they do their research, they talk to interesting experts. It’s all so good!
  • lulu-cthulhu
    Intelligent, witty, and thought-provoking
I have been a fan of Annalee and Charlie Jane since the io9 days and their podcast does not disappoint. They're incredibly knowledgeable about the genre of science fiction, and OOAC feels like a fun conversation with pals about your favorite sci-fi goodness. Each episode covers a different subject or trope within the sci-fi genre, and their topics are always thoughtful and well-researched. On subjects where Annalee and Charlie Jane may be cultural outsiders, they will bring in guest experts. I really couldn't ask for more in a podcast!!
