    Thrilled I found this podcast
Listening to this podcast is like coming over for a chat with a dear friend. Sian is such a warm and vibrant person who has me laughing along with her as if we were in the same room. The content is fun and interesting; she’s a brilliantly entertaining storyteller. You’ll find yourself thoroughly enjoying her company, while learning wonderful bits of folklore.

Incredibly entertaining— the myths aren’t bad either.
Siân Esther Powell is extremely engaging, personable, and easy to listen to. I stumbled across the podcast when researching various myths and legends, but ended up staying just to listen to Powell’s monthly updates and opinions as if we were friends. I find myself eagerly anticipating each new episode, then being dissapointed when it’s over. Thank you for all that you do.

    Favorite podcast ever
I hang out with Sian many nights when the whole house is quiet and asleep. It’s my favorite time of the day, when I get to just clean and go into another world of Celtic myths and legends. It makes the dreaded chores fly by. I have listened to almost every single episode now and am actually very sad to be nearing the end of my binge! Sian, I find myself laughing out loud with you and your refreshing sense of humor, and then remember I have to be quiet because the baby is sleeping. I love how real you are about life, and getting around to things when you have the time and energy, and not worrying about making the podcast absolutely perfect. That’s what makes it so special. Also, your vocabulary and word choices are beautiful. The intro makes me smile as well, along with your change in voice when you begin a story. I feel like we have so much in common and would be friends in real life. Maybe I’ll visit you at the museum someday when I finally achieve my dream of traveling to Europe. Thanks for offering such a whimsical, educational little corner of my life that brings me so much joy, learning about one of the topics I love most! (And sparking countless ideas for my future fantasy novel that I’ll get around to someday when my life and sleep schedule is less capricious.) Aha! I got to use my new favorite word! Can you apply it to something other than a sentient being? I don’t know. I just did. Thanks to you Sian, back to listening!

You’ll get hooked on this myth show
I’ve been really enjoying this show. She has great energy and love for mythology and it shows. The it’s not a info dump which is great. Very digestible and it’s not a show that will overwhelm you with the rate of downloads. I can’t recommend this podcast enough.

    Wonderful
I love all kinds of myths and legends and this podcast is one of my faves. I love that the host is so passionate about keeping these separate and distinct. That’s what makes each country or area so unique! I look forward to each episode and my only complaint is that I wish there were more!

    Fun intro to Celtic myths
I’m trying to connect with my pre-Christian roots. Spent some time learning about the Norse and now I’m onto Celtic mythology and history!! I wanted to find a podcast that was an easy listen and nice tour through the land of Celtic myth and legend. I love Sia^n! She’s the best. Just brilliant. Love her commentary and her readings in her “dramatic voice”. Keep it it! You’re killing it girl. P.S. learning about the Mari Lwyd was reason enough for 5 stars. What kind of awesomely dark and hilarious tradition is this that I must now do much to the bewilderment of my Neighbors. Off to find horse skulls!

I found this podcast last November (2020), and it was a fun and entertaining thing to listen to while at work and walking my dog!

    Thorough research and great stories
Perfect for Celtic mythology nerds like me. And listening to the banshee episode was waaaaay easier than reading Patricia Lysaught’s book about it lol. I hope you keep recording episodes!

    Celtic myths
Exactly what i was looking for to learn more about celtic myths. The texts and books ive tried teaching myself tend to be really overwhelming and i dont feel like i grasp and retain the information. But this podcast is the answer to all my prayers

I’m so happy just to hear the difference in the way we speak (I’m in America) and all the stories!! My mother’s middle name is Faye and her Grandmother was Irish and I just love hearing all about the Celtic myths!!! Keep up the good work!!

  • Rterral
    Brilliant!
I have loved myth and legend all my life and have been reading and studying for over 40 years now. I know a lot of people in the field and boy can some of them make a wonderful topic dull sometimes! What I love best about this podcast is that Ms. Powell brings well studied myths and legends to us in a bright and fantastic way, so that it is thoroughly enjoyable to anyone regardless of how studied they may or may not be. Perhaps what I love most though is that she does not assume that her listeners are empty vessels to be filled with her knowledge, but that we are equally able to absorb and surmise, and in fact she invites us to imagine the things that can’t be known with her. After just a few episodes I feel almost like she is a friend and I would love one day to be able to meet her in person and have a chat. If I ever make it to England again…

    Sian! Marry me!

    So Fun!
This is such a genuine fun podcast! Sian does a magical job of transporting you to a mythic land for 30 minutes and leaves you craving more as soon as you finish!
  • Kailbill
    Wonderful
Sian is seriously wonderful! This show is great because of the content, but I keep listening because Sian seems like a genuinely fantastic human being. This podcast feels like she is a friend telling stories rather than something that is super scripted and rehearsed. I listen to a lot of mythology and legend kinds of podcasts and find that I have to be in the right mood to listen to some of them. I can honestly listen to this podcast anytime. Does she go off an a tangent or two... or five each episode? Yeah but you can tell that she truly loves what she is talking about and you see her joy for life come out in her art. Thanks Sian!

    Magical, Informative and Fun!
When I see a new episode of Celtic Myths & Lore, I know I am in for a treat! Our host has a fine academic grounding in the subject, but it is her whimsical, lighthearted, good-natured way of relating the information that makes it irresistible. My very favorite podcast to listen to.
  • MelofJoy
    Enchanting
I have truly enjoyed the experience of this amazing podcast. What a charismatic host and absolutely enchanting content! I’m continually checking my library for new shows! I am dying to hear an episode focused on Danu, the mother Goddess. Thank you for this beautiful space of escape from the craziness that is our current collective reality. Godspeed.

    Excellent
I have DESPERATELY been trying to find a podcast just like this one- a show that delves in Celtic myths and legends while also giving some amount of background and analysis of those myths. Really enjoying it so far. A little bummed to see there haven’t been any new eps since last August but I’m excited to listen to what’s here!
  • MidwestMeltdown
    Truly Amazing!!
What a great podcast! Very enjoyable and informative in the world of Celtic mythology and lore. Great quality, easy to listen to and stay with. Highly highly highly recommend!

    Absolutely fantastic!
This podcast is so lovely and Sian is the sweetest podcast host I’ve ever listened to. Her research and knowledge is awesome and I always learn something, but the atmosphere of the podcast is never overbearing or condescending. It has a really homelike and comfortable vibe, like you’re sitting around the hearth and listening to your friend tell a story😊 I love to listen while baking

    Stories by the hearth
I just stumbled across this podcast spontaneously yesterday and have already listened to most of the episodes that are available. I find the informal and somewhat random style works wonderfully for the content and that it gives the impression of an informal chat in front of a fire with a very knowledgeable friend. I plan on going straight from here to pledge my small contribution to keep this podcast going and I encourage anyone with any interest in “Celtic” mythology, history or even Celtic-like fantasy to give a listen and enjoy!

Very Nice and Easy to Listen To
In addition to the stories and information being very, very interesting, you feel like you're learning this from a good friend in a very casual conversation. I really enjoy this podcast, and being an American, almost all of the content is completely new to me.
