One of my “Must Read” posts
Mike Rowe mentioned Sean in one of his FB posts … said he never missed any of Sean’s essays, really worthwhile reading. So I searched until I found him … now I read him too, including his books. I appreciate how he sees things.

    6 years too late.
I never heard of this guy until I heard him on the Rick & Bubba University podcast I went all the way back and started listening from the beginning. The episodes from 2017 got me from West Monroe LA to Terrell TX. I’m hooked now. The stories remind me of Lewis Grizzard and Paul Harvey.

    Just knows how…
Sean just knows how. Just that. My heart is always full after I listen to him, his singing, his stories and I’m transported to the very moments that he speaks about. Almost as if he and I grew up together. Wish to meet him in person one day and just talk and share stories. Because well…he just knows how.

    A heartfelt thanks.
I found Sean’s Facebook column about the White Herring while in Cape San Blas last year. I quickly found links to this podcast and have enjoyed every one of them. But it’s not just podcasts..(which I miss!). He’s on Facebook, Instagram and has written many books. He has public speaking events and probably other things I haven’t yet discovered. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know about him through all his media. The bottom line to all his writing is almost always the same: be a good human, it’s ok to be conflicted, your past does not define you, and people are essentially good. Thanks to him for always being humble, very real and a wonderful writer.

    Love It!
I have wonderful memories of listening to A Prairie Home Companion with my Great Uncle in Florence, AL on Saturday nights. Though Lake Wobegon was in MN, we connected with the stories, adopted the town and invited the characters weekly into our home as neighbors. This show, from The South, especially hits all the right chords for me and has become a weekly treat. Regardless of where you live though, give it a listen. Sean’s the neighbor we all wish we had.

Great episode today on Mayberry. I’m a Longtime Andy Griffith Show Fan, and have become very fond of Mount Airy after visiting a few times. I especially enjoyed the interview with Allan Newsome. He is such a dedicated guy and a real blessing to the Mayberry Community.

    Brings back fine memories
Sean’s storytelling is not only soothing and a great sleep aid, but takes me back to my childhood.....back to when stories were longer than a meme or quip. The music is superb. The show is just fantastic!
  • djwatki
    Fantastic!
Beer Joints was a great episode. Some good words of wisdom sprinkled through out the episode. Humorous, thoughtful, and fine storytelling. I loved it, thank you Sean!

    Love this man!
I have just discovered the pod casts and will have a lot of catching up to do. I read his emails and Facebook daily message and have seen him in person. If you get a chance, go see him, buy his books, recommend him to your local event places. He is an entertainer who speaks to a Southerner’s heart.
  • !Listener!
    Sean is a hero...
....because he defines success in his own terms and not on society’s terms. Society finds value in the occupation “writer” yet Sean does not embrace that “flash” cover. He remembers instead the heroes in his own life who went to work everyday even when the work wasn’t well paid or pleasant or easy or valued by most others. He tells, too, about how he did the same. He talks of the comfort that church and community can bring at a time when the larger society seems to often denigrate the first and embrace the second only in the unreal digital world. And he is just plain good fun...enjoy!

    Stirring Up Memories
Sean, If more people listened to your podcast, there would be a lot more joy and a lot less worrying about insignificant things. Having lost my mama, uncle and aunt in the past 25 months, you have inspired me to write my story and their stories for my nieces and nephews. I am picking the memory files of my soon to be 90 year old Daddy who is one of my two heroes. My strong husband of almost 43 years is the other one. He is a born writer and storyteller and your writing encourages him to continue to work on his eventual book. Kudos to your mama, Jamie and your teachers for encouraging you to gift our world. War Eagle, hey to you and yours, and Roll Tide from my groom.

“Laughter Through Tears Is My Favorite Emotion”—Truvy
Sean has a way of tugging at the heart strings and then saying something funny in the same story. I’m glad Mike Rowe reposted one of his articles which led me to his FB page then his podcasts. Dear Sean, My mom and I were so touched that you read my letter about my wonderful Grandma, and my Grandma was able to hear you sing to her just shortly before she passed away a week ago. We played your rendition of My Old Kentucky Home at her service. Hopefully you’ll have a lot more followers from California since we have been telling everyone about your podcasts, and our family is huge.
  • Goodnewsdoc
A little humor and real life wit!
If more people listened to Sean’s unique banter, they’d have a 40-something-minute escape from the real news and fake news. They’d be able to get lost in another’s homespun take on growing up in the South and exactly what that means or once meant. Every podcast is a blend of music and stories that engross the listener. Sean’s tales are familiar to me, not because I was with him but because I lived them in my own life. If you can laugh at the peculiar things that are typical in Southern churches, you’ll laugh often. Sean has no idea of how many miles he’s been in my earbuds while I’m running. So, I can conclude by emphatically stating: This podcast is good for your health. But, it’s not all about church chuckles, it’s about relationships with real people — in good times and in hard times. There’s ‘some’ level of redemption in every tale he tells. It soul food for the Southern soul, but anyone with a heart WILL get it, even if they’ve never spent a day in the South.

    Time transport
Listening to Sean storytell takes me back to my childhood. Grateful for God fearing parents raised during the Great Depression. A sense of family and sadness all mixed with a slice of humor. It all starts with a slice of pound cake!

    Real Deal Holyfield
There’s absolutely nothing better than great stories spun by a southerner. Original. The realest content you’ll hear all week. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. And you’ll call your Momma when it’s all said and done.

    You should listen.
I do. And I like it. You probably will too.

    Great feel good show
Sean tells of people and places in a part of the USA where people love and care for each other the way we should. The stories of funny, uplifting and real in a beautiful way. It reminds me a lot of my uncle. If he were still alive he would be a great podcaster like Sean.

    Child of the south
As a child of the south I know each of these stories being told by heart. I miss stories like these and I’m so grateful that there’s still someone telling good ole stories of southern living. It reminds me of the hours of times that I’ve enjoyed just setting and listening to many a folk in my family tell a beautiful story of life and times in the south.

One of my favorites. The art of storytelling is alive and well.
I love his positive messages that are delivered from a genuine place - it's not fake. Listening to his stories honestly feels to me like what church SHOULD feel like but seldom does. Bravo.

An amazing person that I can now call friend
In mid 2017, I sent an email to a writer that I had read on Facebook almost every day, who my family members and I adored as a wonderful representation of what the south is all about. I asked that southern writer to come on my new Podcast, to be a guest and to talk to me about himself. What I didn’t expect was how much that process would change my life and he had no clue what that conversation would spark in his life. That writer was Sean Dietrich. Sean is both a remarkable man, and an amazing friend. I’ve been lucky enough to be in the conversation that would ultimately lead to this podcast being created, and I’ve also been lucky enough to hear the progress of this show, and how well Sean has matured in his podcasting. I’m proud to call you friend, friend. Congratulations, and keep up the great work! You deserve every ounce of success that you achieve!
