    Intelligent, entertaining, thoughtful, brilliant
I’ve been teaching high school English for almost 18 years now, and I was researching the Arthurian Legends when I stumbled upon this podcast. This mashup of history, literature, philosophy, storytelling, and film is so compelling and so fascinating that I haven’t stopped listening. It doesn’t hurt that I love “nerd culture,” and a lot of my favorites are discussed here! I recommend anyone who is looking for an intelligent, thoughtful, and entertaining listen check this podcast out. Definitely my new favorite.

    Interesting takes
Great insight. Interesting takes. Have only listened to a few, like it a lot except for the “ums” and “ahs” which drive me crazy (makes it sound unprofessional) and keep it from being a 5 rating for me.

A unique twist on the movie lover's podcast
The Midnight Myth is possibly the most unique movie podcast I've ever listened to...the deep, educated dive into the history and mythology of the focused film adds a new layer of appreciation and complexity that will now have me rethinking some of my favorite films!

I am a self-admitted Tower Junkie. Try as I might to get my friends to join me on the Path, none will. Thank you for The Wheel of Ka. This series has legit saved me over the past year and to hear your thoughtful and intelligent analysis makes me feel like Dorothy going from a world in Black and White to Color. The Wonders of Story in a Podcast!
I dove into this show with their discussion of Prince Leia. Why? Because I'm a Star Wars nut. And what a lovely entry to this show it was. The Midnight Myth Podcast is a refeshingly soft, joyful look into the history of stories, characters, and more. It's hosted by two wonderful hosts, Derek and Laurel, who really want to explore storytelling elements. Highly recommended. Plus, they covered GoT, and we all know nearly everyone has an opinion on *that* show.

Fun and Different Dives Into Stories
I have a passion for stories and I love when you can take a different perspective on them. That's exactly what they do in The Midnight Myth - they offer you a different take and, sometimes an entire paradigm shift on the stories you thought you knew. I can't get enough.

A Great Deep Dive into Storytelling
This is an incredibly well thought out and researched show that dives deep into the world of storytelling. I adore learning about the influences of my favorite shows and movies, and how stories are constructed. Incredibly Detailed
Just listened to the character analysis of Bran from Game of Thrones and the hosts did such a great job going over his character and how he links to different mythologies. I had no idea how many references went into Bran. Great podcast!

    What a GREAT Pod!
I consder myself a geeks, geek and man this podcast is amazing. The hosts are articulate, intelligent, and make some amazing points about your favorite subjects in literature, film and tv. I've learned so much about history from Derek, he's really knowledgeable about the subject. And I love the way Laurel explains things. The perspectives they bring have changed the way I look at movie classics like the Lion King. What a great podcast!

    Midnight Magic
Midnight Myth gives the listener a new appreciation for storytelling, specifically among pop culture. The hosts are engaging and incredibly knowledgeable resulting in interesting context and analysis. While it’s engaging, it’s an easy to listen to podcast that’s perfect for long drives or around the office. Give them a listen and subscribe!

    Insightful and delightful
This podcast brings unique perspectives and expertise to a wide range of pop culture topics. You can always learn something new, whether it's moral philosophy, Roman history, or Greek mythology. They put Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Marvel, plus some underrated tv and movie gems into new light. The 100th episode about wizards was fantastic, as well as any time they go into King Arthur!

    Too many errors
This is an interesting and thoughtful podcast by people whose reach tends to exceed their grasp. I was interested mainly in the Game of Thrones material, but the hosts (more D than L) often don't even pronounce character names correctly and tend to have shallow bad takes. Their predictions are repeatedly proved wrong, nor are they very original wrong predictions, yet they keep making them. FWIW, it's the episode covering 8x01 that caused me to unsubscribe (Jonsa isn't happening, Cersei didn't sleep with Euron because she wanted sex, etc). Not a worthless effort at all, but they're Advanced Casuals and it shows.

I am a smarter person from listening to this podcast
I recently began binging The Midnight Myth from episode one and I swear I have learned for than I did in entire liberal arts courses. Hosts Laurel and Derek are so well read and knowledgeable, I am understanding stories, or components thereof in entirely new contexts. They are bright, charming, intelligent hosts and they’ve made me what to revisit so many stories I’ve enjoyed over my lifetime. Highly recommend for all lovers of lore, film/tv, and literature.

Mythology nerds, tune in or you're missing out!
I've always been into stories--myths, legends, fantasies, etc. Not sure how I stumbled upon The Midnight Myth but I'm glad I did! Listening to Laurel and Derek makes me feel like I'm amongst fellow myth nerds. I love to learn and I always learn something new from them. Their discussions are in-depth and academic but NEVER BORING. They explore many sorts of stories in literature and pop culture. My favorite episodes involve anything "Game Of Thrones" and Shakespeare. Keep up the fantastic work, y'all! ---The Bingeables Podcast

    A Top Notch Podcast
Laurel and Derek are bright beacons of light in a world filled with darkness. Their brand of storytelling is as gripping and exciting as their conversation. They have taken stories that I have loved for the entirety of my life and found new and interesting ways to interpret them, break them down and help to shed their own light on these tales. I find myself immediately engaged from moment one to the very last and I would recommend this podcast to everyone!
  • BE_DUBZ
    Fun listen, interesting perspectives!
Derek and Laurel are two of the brightest minds. To listen to them apply their perspective, wit, and intellect to the topic of stories and archetypes is a pleasure. I particularly loved the episode about Moana, and the deep-dive into both the fun aspects of the movie as well as its cultural significance.
  • Peterjmarshall62
    Fantastic!
This podcast is the perfect balance of insight, humor, and good storytelling. I particularly enjoyed the first episode about Rick and Morty (I’ve never seen the show but this podcast very much made me want to watch!)

    Great content!
I especially loved episode 6. The conversation about how resistance and rebellion connect the American people was exceptionally fitting given today's political landscape. All points connected together perfectly and the conversation flow kept me engaged the entire time. When it ended, I wanted more!

    Awesome podcast!
Awesome podcast! They not only provide a funny discussion of the stories and characters we all love - but also put it into an intellectualized context so you better understand why archetypal characters are important for stories and society.
