J the 7Best podcast ever!!!I can’t get enough of Catching Foxes! This podcast combines humor, thoughtful discussions, and genuine insights into a perfect blend. Luke and Gomer have an incredible chemistry that makes each episode engaging and entertaining. The topics are diverse, ranging from faith and culture to personal anecdotes, and the hosts bring a refreshing authenticity to every conversation. Whether you’re looking for a good laugh or some profound reflections, Catching Foxes delivers consistently. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a dynamic and enjoyable podcast experience! This podcast has accompanied me through college and my first two kids. Thanks for every episode and I look forward to more! PS I got a CF T-shirt for Christmas!

HowDQTJust what I neededIt’s simply put two best friends experiencing life together who authentically—and hilariously—open the window to their thoughts as Catholics striving to live authentically. I have always loved the rawness of the show, and it’s fun being a fly on the wall in their conversations about literally whatever is on their minds!

Ajackson92187Entertaining and profoundIn the middle of listening to the episode on the priesthood. . . Love it! Makes me feel like I am back at FUS!

SoynutLoverNice guysI’m not quite old enough to be their mom, but I’m kinda old. I like how this podcast feels like just hanging out with some cool young catholic guys. Wished they talk about more catholic things but sometimes hearing about picking skin off your feet is a good time.

MosesmasonIs this a good show? No. Is this a bad show? Also no. Luke and Gomer are a bit too ad hoc to make a good show. It’s never a bad show, it’s just probably 70% skippable to 30% insightful. But most of the skippable stuff is usually enjoyable even if being just catholic anima techniqua vacua or whatever.

KGNichoSymbolismHave you checked out Jonathan Pageau’s podcast, the Symbolic World? His whole focus is on how the modern West has lost sight of the symbolic, opting instead for what can be “proven,” counted, etc.

🐡🍑It’s not you, it’s meIt’s a show where a couple of guys who are Catholic talk. Sometimes they talk about Catholic things/perspectives, sometimes not. A few times there are insights. Most times it can feel like a closed feedback loop. That can be frustrating. As I listened to more episodes, I found myself increasingly annoyed as every week, it seemed like Gomer would find some new hot-take about how culture was doomed in a particular way. Usually, these pronouncements seemed based on some new book, hobby, YouTube video he had seen and had bought into. Maybe I am projecting, but those moments feel like he is sermonizing down to the rest of us. I even notice that he does it to Luke. Luke will occasionally mention something from his life and Gomer seems to either disregard Luke’s concerns or twist it in a way that it goes back to whatever new hot-take warpath he is on. I stopped listening. The hot-takes and Gomer monologues got too tiring. I really wanted to like this podcast. But the relentless, d&%# hot-takes make me resent it too much. I don’t need that in my life.

grincon55Grateful for this podcastVery insightful and interesting podcast. I hear every episode

Lean822I truly appreciate you every weekLove hearing your voices every week. I know it’s hard to send us this blessing when you guys have your own lives to live and jobs to work, but I appreciate you soooo much!

fertilemertleThanks for the contentBored, stay at home mom with Irish twins (who is probably bad at domestic life)…. Thanks for the content. I really enjoy listening each week. It helps keep my sanity

Sam277000What’s the point?Never was sure what the point of this podcast was. Now that they went down the Nazi path re the TLM (which I don’t attend)I think they’re just a couple of jerks.

ayh85Two Catholic Dudes Inviting me to a ChatGreat guys having conversation that is mess but raw and genuine. Sometimes I catch myself talking back as if I am apart of the conversation. Thank you! Sometimes I agree and other times I don’t, either way you get me thinking.

Jay LeppSound like two famous dead dudes from the BibleI love this podcast and look forward to it every week. I have been a listener from the beginning. I feel like I am part of the conversation just listening to it. You get a little bit of Sts Peter and Paul in every episode. The Zeal and bravado of St Peter, and the Theological clarity and introspection of St Paul. Catching Foxes is not afraid to say things many Catholics are thinking, good or bad. They note bad things as bad, but remind us they are being done by broken people who need God’s love, mercy and forgiveness. The fact they are both still lay ministers means that they are here to be faithful if not always successful. Catching Foxes, cuts to the heart of many issues we as a faith community are struggling with. Every episode has me saying yes, or I need to do that.

Hoosier 787Amazing PodcastWould be 5 stars if it wasn’t for the most recent episode. Dreadful stuff.

mdjd2010Love your showI love your show and oddly so does my wife. It is so great to hear devout Catholics living normal lives, struggling with normal things, and not being Taylor Marshall.
-
Erky the SteubieThis is my all-time favorite podcast.... no capI met Gomer briefly when I was a teen at a Steubenville east conference where he spoke about the compatibility of faith and science. I never forgot about him or his talk. I always hoped that someday, I could find more of his content. One day in college, I came across THIS PODCAST! I’ve been a listener ever since. These two goofballs are real, down-to-earth Catholics who don’t make you feel like they’re putting on airs. They are honest, insightful, and utterly hilarious! It makes me feel as if I went to Franciscan the same time as them (drink). Their Patreon content is good, and I love the access you get to their after show parties where they can interact live with subscribers on the Stereo app. Cannot recommend this podcast enough. It gets me through commute, work, cleaning, or any other phase of life I feel like I need a couple of buddies who aren’t encouraging anything but the pursuit of truth and virtue.

NewyorklatinInsightfulYour 4-23-21 episode: epic and insightful...enough said.

BBMarlsTwo perspectivesI really enjoy hearing both of your perspectives on cultural/political issues in the rare instances they come up; clearly one of you leans left and the other right, but your common foundation in Christ and His Church keeps the discussion sane and productive.

This_Guy____Love the pod butGoing to be honest about this one. I discovered this podcast at SEEK 2019 because I was waiting in line to talk to Matt Fradd and one of them started talking to us. I don’t remember which of you two it was and honestly I still don’t know which of you is which, you’re just a conglomerate of two people. That said. I was talking to you with two of my friends and we got to Catholic dating and high and lows and lots of things in that topic. It was also the two friends I had most recently asked out over the past year and was dying inside and giving the full “please stop this” look and on and on it went. All in all, no hard feelings because this is (with age) the funniest memory of SEEK. I pity subscribed to the podcast and said I would ‘definitely’ listen. So I downloaded it and then deleted them without listening for probably six months. Then I decided to listen and ... 5 stars. Appreciate the wit and insight that no other Catholic podcast really has. Just unfiltered honest content. One of the best podcasts i listen to for normal people. Some day I’ll figure out how to differentiate your voices and figure out who is who.

Ryan SkolasinskiHer name is HopeThank you.

BruceAAJrGreat podcast where lay Catholics talk about Catholic stuffTimer and Luke do a great job chatting about the every day life of what it means to be a Lake Catholic in this modern society. They bring a lighthearted view to some topics and a very direct and needed view of other topics. Their back-and-forth style complements themselves very well. If you have a free spot on your podcast list, I’d go ahead and add them.
-
beantownbeenBreath of fresh air.Real chats about concerns of every day Catholic folk. Gotta love it.

DrinkingbeaverGreat podcastEdit: That was a great recorrection guys. Still disagree with things but kept it more balanced and always brought it back to Christ and what we should actually be striving for in our personal lives even if society as a whole is not. Catching foxes used to be a voice of reason. It used to push against the mold. Encourage an orthodox Catholicism that was Christ centric not politics centric, as it should be but sadly is not throughout most of the country. A podcast that pushed Catholics to be better Catholics with Christ at the center. Not anymore. There have now been too many episodes in a row now where there is conversation on the terribleness of the left with 0 acknowledgment of how post modernism has totally influenced the right and is causing conservative politics to be entirely selfish based with charity and love for the poor being shunned. Luke or Gomer if you are bothering to read this. You cannot say the “alt-right” is unimportant part of American politics when they literally attacked the Capitol three weeks ago. You cannot bring up people wearing Che shirts (when most people wearing the shirts have no clue who Che is) without acknowledging the thousands of people with Q shirts. You cannot keep discussing how important being pro-life is without being deeply saddened by the execution of more people in the last 12 months than in the last 20 years, especially when theses executions were carried out by “Catholic pro-life” politicians. Your base is certainly more likely to believe Q than Che and your lack of discussion of the anti-Cathoic and un Christians ideas of the right while harping on the left is disappointing to say the least. You have become part of the conservative Catholic echo chamber that I loved you were not a part of. I sent an email to you through your website that was never responded about 2 months if you want to dialogue.

ryan-rrrerrGreat podcastI always enjoy listening to this podcast. It reminds me of when me and my Newman buddies get together. A very honest and authentic podcast, I would highly recommend it!
-
handmaidbirthSelf-IndulgentThe best description I have for this podcast is self-indulgent. For their own sake and the sake of the Church they should probably retire.
-
CatholicdrummerA Unique Catholic PodcastI have been listening to Catching Foxes from almost their beginning and love Luke and Gomer’s honesty and depth as they wrestle with faith and culture. I look to them as older brothers in Christ and frequently quote what I hear on their podcasts in conversations. I feel a personal kinship with them after so many episodes. It has become an invaluable part of my journey of discipleship as a young adult Catholic.
-
SowakarocksSomeday maybeLoved listening to this podcast until I had to listen to almost two hours of Gomer trying to justify voting for Trump. Like maybe if it takes that much convincing something isn’t right about it.... When they don’t try to wade into politics this is a great show about the faith and culture without being super shamey, unapproachable, or too pious. I wish I could get a *politics* warning like we do with explicit content so I could just skip those episodes and enjoy the show without having it tainted by he-who-shall-not-be-named.
-
chaseroooGreat StuffHonest, fun and insightful. I enjoy the length of the episodes and the honest and open dialogue around faith and cultural issues. Occasionally they’ll drift into topics I’m not interested in (cue avengers) but that’s cool. At some point I’ll have to find out who the heck Balthazar is 😂

JP HilzTeardrops on my guitarMy dudes. I love you and will listen forever, but how many times must we jump the shark?

S WickerI mean...I like itI get the criticism of Catching Foxes. My husband can’t stand them and thinks their arrogant and childish. Fair enough. I’m also arrogant and childish sometimes. If you’re looking for more instruction-based and want a life-changing theological homerun every episode, I would probably recommend Fr. Mike Schmitz. I also enjoy Pints with Aquinas, Fides et Ratio, Word on Fire, and CSYSK. So now that I’ve covered those bases, I have a love for Luke and Gomer after listening to hours and hours of them and I appreciate their work and allowing me as a listener into their friendship and lives. Keep it up and come visit MN! PS: Also Luke thank you for being so gracious when I super embarrassingly jumped on that Instagram live during quarantine. I felt like an idiot but you made me feel like a valued listener.

Kiley LuftI Should Be Making My Kids Breakfast, But I’m Writing This Review InsteadI realized I needed to write this review when I found myself checking my phone first thing Friday morning to see if a new episode was out. As a 30 year old stay-at-home mom I listen to A LOT of podcasts, and Catching Foxes has become one I cannot miss. I love learning about faith and culture from Gomer (his other podcast Every Knee Shall Bow is also great), and Luke has taught me so much about empathy and looking at the church through a lens that is orthodox yet different from my own. I look forward to listening to Luke and Gomer’s conversations with one another because of their authenticity and love of Christ mixed with a dose of reality, humor, and a lot of references I don’t quite understand, but love hearing because listening to two guys enjoy one another’s friendships so much is part of the show’s charm. Thank you Gomer for making me seem smarter, thank you Luke for making me seem more compassionate, but mostly, thank you both for challenging me to be a better disciple. I re-downloaded Patreon and became a supporter because I love what you guys are doing, and I love listening every week!

BFF Chris MillerGomer’s Best Friend Chris Miller ReviewGomer’s Best Friend Chris Miller here. I just started listening to this show. I’m pleased with the amount of “Best Friend Chris Miller” references. I’m usually listening in double speed, hunting for nuggets to troll Gomer on at my leisure. Thank you Luke and Gomer for giving me a new pastime. Gomer’s BFF - Chris Miller

Joejp89Great show!John-Paul here, Long time listener, first time writer. I’m one of those guys that listened from the beginning, and I started listening about 2 years ago. I don’t vibe with every show, but when I do it’s extremely impactful. I’m turning 25 this year and being the youngest of 7 really let’s me into your age humor more then I’d like to admit, but it’s great. Thank you for doing this, it brings joy. God bless.

andhigginsA 3-Star Effort, I Think Even They’d AdmitVery suburban-nostalgia, very elder-millennial. There’s a kind of misplaced sense of masculine “authenticity”, definitely not distinct to them, but they use it to cover for the forced swearing, the lack of preparation, the child-like obsession with movies and TV, a guilt-ridden resistance to physical exercise, and a too-apparent undertone of glee at the prospect of increased Patreon funding.
-
ExodishIt’s amazingThese guys are great. The kind of podcast that you listen to because you want a solid take on things that generally cover issues that Catholics have in mind. There is a lot of personal reflection and chemistry between Gomer and Luke that truly is their brand. It’s more like being in a conversation at the bar than listening to a radio show.
-
avalidname10/10Good banter and good taste in music.
-
Joe CassoLOLQuality catholic podcast and only one that makes me actually laugh out loud. Very relatable and worth listening to every week.
-
JordanchaconThanksYou guys have helped a lot, keep it up
-
modern day phariseesNot impressed at allThese guys are your modern day Pharisees. Consistent judging, slandering, and just nonsense. Both of these guys could use a huge dose of humility. If they invested as much time in their physical well being as they do talking negatively/ill of others (gossip) they’d probably feel a lot better about themselves. These guys were your typical insecure nerds in HS who went and got a theology degree and feel superior for the first time in their lives. Really sad. Would never let my kids listen to this and also wouldn’t let these 2 anywhere near my kids. Something is clearly off with these two.
-
DCI4LIFEIrresponsible and slanderousThese guys are super irresponsible. I understand it is an opinion podcast but their pod on Dynamic Catholic is utterly false. It was extremely one-sided without doing research to get multiple perspectives. I work at Dynamic Catholic and have had a great experience working there for 5 years. These guys are contributing to the toxicity and gossip that is a big part of the current subculture in the Catholic Church in America. They have a background of working in parish and diocesan ministry. YIKES. They make me not want to get involved at a parish. This is the kind of gossip and territoralism that goes on behind closed doors in parishes. It is all about what THEY think the Church needs rather than what is needed for the greater good. Many of their opinions are not Christ-like at all. They are slanderous and not well informed. Regarding their take on Dynamic Catholic, I offered to hop on a call with them to have a conversation and give them another perspective, but of course, no response. It is very disappointing that these are people others look up to within our Church.

BarbaraceatmonDistastefully Vulgar and LazyI tried Luke and Gomer. I really did. I personally have a distaste for the flippant vulgarity they employ. It is so contrary to the purity that Catholics are supposed to uphold. Luke 18:17 - “Amen, I say to you, whoever will not accept the kingdom of God like a child, will not enter into it.” 1st Corinthians 13:11 - “When I was a child, I spoke like a child” I believe that it was their interview on the Matt Fradd Show that they described that the purpose of their profanity was to display their authenticity to the audience. This is indeed the case, because unfortunately, many Catholics can relate to the bad habit of cussing. However, I truly believe if you have to stoop to such lows in every single episode, any authenticity you have is a cheap and lazy one. But it isn’t just the cussing. The content matter is ridiculously long and drawn out for unimportant issues. All discussion is anecdotal. Personally, I can’t see listening to this podcast as anything other than a waste of time. Episode through episode I pressed on awaiting the funny, engaging, and morally fortifying entertainment so many fellow Catholics had promised me. I never found it. They don’t speak of the pressing, deadly issues of our present day to the faithful, and one day, they will have to answer to this profound folly of theirs. If you’re looking for something funny, entertaining, authentic, and truly worth your ears, try Taylor Marshall, Timothy Gordon, or Matt Fradd first.

BeccaBeastAnother Woman Who Loves this PodcastI’m pretty busy so a lot of my podcasts have lost priority, but no matter what, I find time to listen to these guys. It’s so refreshing to find an honest and actually funny, not stuffy Catholic podcast that is truly authentic. I am a woman and I LOVE this podcast...a lot. Keep up the good work y’all!
-
ElenaescotoFUS MomI just found this podcast and listened to the Rebecca has-been interview. My daughter is a freshman at FUS and I was like oh my Lord! But I was laughing half the time which is great!
-
harkcloseRefreshing and neededEven when it seems these guys are going off topic, somehow they seamlessly bring in the catholic faith. It is clear they live their faith and continue to grow in it, and admit honestly where the are struggling in it. I often am laughing out loud, and looking up people or bible verses they reference. Wonderfully nerdy. Highly recommended.

El-Juan-y-solamente“I’m in the mood”I’m not always in the mood for Matt Fradd or other podcasts, but I’m always in the mood for Catching Foxes. Thanks guys. Always love listening!
