Love this podcast. It’s really helping me take a deep dive into the show. It’s made me go back and rewatch and every time I have saw things that I didn’t catch before. This podcast is a great companion to the show. Definitely recommend

Everyone made interesting points, but would have liked to have heard more of the two non-main hosts. The main host spoke so much I would lose interest because it felt like the same thing over and over, and he kept a interrupting the others and taking over the conversation. It felt uncomfortable and made the podcast hard to listen to. It felt like he was so excited to talk about the show that he couldn’t help but jump in with his thoughts and the information he had learned. I think it’s great to be so excited, it just didn’t translate well here.

The girl doesn’t talk much, or get to, not sure. The other guy is great when he is talking. The host can be good, but always seems to end up in long, monotone, diatribes for no reason.

I really like the discussion between the moderator & guests, it helps me understand & enjoy the show so much more. I love how at the end of the episode they break down things with real numbers/facts. My only compliant is I wish the podcasts were longer with even more discussion.

What I don’t understand is why the one host is SO condescending towards the younger female host. He’s constantly asking her to state her opinion of events from the POV of someone who wasn’t alive at the time, and also as if she needs his permission to make a comment. He literally says her name more than a dozen times per episode. It drives me nuts. He doesn’t do this to the other host. They’re also constantly referencing the official HBO podcast, which I also listen to. I wanted to try a more neutral podcast to get a different take on the series. Let’s see if they improve as they get more episodes done.

The most surprising with these 3 entertainment types in a situation where they were required to be actually thoughtful. They totally missed the belief in the Soviet system that was genuine and led to true heroic choices. Each time, these 3 children/hosts (who were unprepared to do this podcast). One example is a young man in a meeting who suggests things might be worse. Yes, the older committee leaders disagree and say to go in an$ see, the interpretation that the young man did it because he was afraid of being shot. What? How American. Then one says there were guns everywhere (there wasn’t) and agreed the man had to go. I spent a summer in Belarus 3 or 4 years later, and the common people were very proud of the sharing and concern for others in a socialist system. That young man did not say yes out of fear bit from honor and belief. They barely mention the three men who chose to go to the water tanks and open them to release the water and protect a meltdown. Told how very important this was; 3 capable people must go. The hosts did not understand why they did this. Had they noticed, they’d surely have said they were being forced. They were not. Told what would happen if none of them would do it, three men volunteered. They did so to protect their country plus many surrounding countries, all of which would have been destroyed by horrible death. They were needed. They understood. They volunteered. They went for their comrades, for their culture. Fear of being shot did not enter into it. What suckers for American propaganda these hosts are (they usually cover Marvel superheroes, need i say more?)

Like the Chernobyl talk but the moderator guy is eh. I liked the guests better.
