RigoMusicWaiting, hoping for a returnPopping in to share (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) that it’d be a great time for these talented journalists to return. Maybe one day a week? We’ve started the best few months of sports (in the USA) and the only thing missing is the voices of reason and entertainment to make sense of the crazy/fun world of sports. Thinking about a return?! Hoping everyone is well!

SportsReportersLoyalFanLoyal ListenerI grew up watching Sports Reporters on ESPN with my dad every Sunday. This show coupled with being a lifelong Detroit sports fan was part of the fabric of my youth! When I was 13, Mitch signed my Fab Five book at Summit Place Mall in Pontiac, MI. I have followed his career ever since. A few years ago I stumbled upon this podcast and I felt really fortunate to to be reunited with my favorite sports crew. They have been part of my weekly routine where I have easily listened to over 400 episodes! I was really sad to hear that this was now coming to an end! Thank you for all the sports insight, camaraderie, and fun! Hope the sports reporters comes back soon……again!
-
Mister YukSay It Ain’t So!Was hoping that the announcement that Last Thursday was the last show was an early April Fool’s joke. Will miss this podcast.
-
Melzie MelGoing to missSo sad that the show is ending. My husband and I watched every Sunday when you were on TV. When I found the podcast a few years ago, we became loyal listeners. I’ve always marveled that you could cover each sport in a succinct way that was somehow all encompassing of the latest news. Thank you for being an entertaining and informative part of our sports fandom for all of these years.
-
Smoking SalmonThe Show Must Go OnLove these fellas, love the banter and the seriousness and non-seriousness at times. You all bring the mainstays I miss from the talking heads on television, as most of them are noise and hot air. I hope you come back with a new platform!!
-
RAM3rdSaddenedI hope this isn’t something coming too late but your show is one of my favorites and I’m saddened to hear your content won’t be there on Monday and Thursday. I’m hopeful it is merely a break and for the record, hope you return to the pod universe sooner rather than later.
-
Izzy13662ThanksI was disappointed to here this morning that the podcast was coming to an end. Thank you for all the years, tv sports reports included, of information. Hope to here form you all again soon.
-
jrbshoesBest wishesSorry to hear about the show. I have been listening/ watching longer than I can remember. Hope to hear you again down the road.
-
MeganStarrFarewellSince discovering the podcast a few years ago, you all have been my first choice for sports talk and I have looked forward to hearing your insights. I will miss that. I am 43 and was a Sunday morning viewer as far back as middle school. You all are pillars in my sports fandom. Happy Tails, until we meet again.
-
raeann1689Thank you!Thank you for reviving The Sports Reporters! The Sunday morning staple had been a comfort podcast for me since I discovered its existence, especially during the peak of COVID. Now that it has come to an end again I feel inclined to thank Mitch, Mike, Bob, and Tyler for their thoughtful insights on sports and the world. Bringing a podcast on current events in the sports world twice a week is hard work! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I will miss spending my Monday and Thursday afternoons listening to this show.
-
KJ from KYThe Last One? What?!?Say it isn’t so! This is the smartest sports talk anywhere! I love you, Mitch! I love you, Bob! If these guys love you, then I tolerate you, Mike. All the best, gentleman.
-
TheBashedNoooooooo!!!!!Say it ain’t so! You cannot leave us like this. Come back! Btdubs, your reasons for ending the podcast were a smidge too vague. Something stinks.
-
MLS126%Today was too muchMike took it to another level today - overtalking or should I say screaming at Bob He needs to dial it back
-
head2headConsistently greatHosts have forgotten more about sports than most listeners will ever know. Lupica sometimes grates, but I know that is my personal opinion. To be honest, ML calls Bob Ryan his mentor but then is downright mean to the guy in a way that Lupica would never be to Albom. Ryan is still a trove of knowledge and offers a supported opinion on most things sports. Love Albom and Ryan really like Mike. Thanks for the show!
-
Lupica & Ryan go away pleaseOk?Mitch is fantastic. He is smart, thoughtful and very entertaining. When he is absent I don’t listen. Ryan mumbles and has incoherent rambling thoughts. Count the number of times Lupica says Ok?? It will astound you. I have counted as many as 30 in a single episode. Lupica also is constantly laughing at his own attempts at humor when no one else laughs. The best podcast ever ......No Ryan or Lupica. Keep this broadcast team Turned off when you had only Lupica and Ryan. Again turned off when Mitch was not on. Ryan and Lupica are impossible to listen to without the insightful Albom. Obviously no one reads these as Lupica and Ryan are not coherent and mildly interesting Mitch should do the show with guests and let the other two talk to each other on the phone off air. Thanks for no Ryan. Now lose Lupica. Lupica, what happened to your loyalty to Gillette razors. I thought you would always be loyal to Gillette razors. When will Ryan speak in complete sentences? He is a babbling fool. Again I fast forwarded through this session No Mitch.....I tune out So GLAD RYAN IS NOT ON THE SHOW HE RUINS IT WITH HIS BABBLE AN INCOHERENT MUMBLING FUNNY RYAN MENTIONED MARV ALBERT MAKING MISTAKES ON HIS BROADCAST. HE SHOULD LISTEN TO HIS OWN BABBLING BEFORE HE SPEAKS ABOUT A LEGEND LIKE MARV. JUST SHUT UP RYAN AND LET MITCH TALK. Again I skip the episode without Mitch. Sponsor should not have to pay without Mitch because he is the only reason I listen. Tell Lupica that players play WELL not GOOD Get some of that BC tuition back.
-
wademo7Speeding up baseballInteresting discussion on how to speed up the game, but I think you missed one. When did it become the norm that a batter step out of the box after every pitch? Back in the day (yes, I’m an old fart), the batter stayed in the box for the entire at bat. Sure, sometimes they would have to dust themselves off after being knocked down, but that was the exception, not the rule. I propose a “two step out rule” per at bat, not counting knock downs. The cumulative effect could be significant. BTW I like your show.
-
DeweywannaMuzzle MikeI totally enjoy the show but cannot handle Lupica's interruptions, especially when Mitch or Bob are making a well thought out point. Mike pops off and destroys the idea and don't get me started on his incessant gigling. Why don't the others have a kill switch to his mic. I have read all the other comments and I don't seem to be in the minority. I stuck it out to the super bowl but now this is my parting shot
-
p4blairGood stuffOne of my favorite podcasts guys ! Don’t miss any now. Thx !
-
movinfreightMitch is greatI’d give 5 stars but Lupica is unbearable. He interjects his political views at every turn. Not to mention he interrupts constantly! I enjoy Mitch’s views and insights. He’s my favorite. Bob Ryan is predictable and tired.
-
o nickname for meGreat pod castsThoroughly enjoy all of them love it
-
MamalaBaySports reportersHave always liked the sports reporters, only 1 comment, it would be better if Mike Lupica didn’t interrupt his friends 10 times an episode. It does make me want to shut the pod cast off
-
vanvootThe bestFour of the best sportswriters/reporters in America telling the truth as they see it, with wit and deep insight. Highly recommended.
-
UpNorth4EverBob’s Retirement?I have loved the show since the early 90s on espn. Mike and Mitch, you are better than you have ever been. Bob however, like all the great athletes you cover and discuss, has lost his ability to play at the highest level, and you know it! He has been great for many years, but now he is very hard to listen to. The sharp wit and clarity of thought just aren’t there any more. Time to retire Bob.
-
tired19053Lazy research to fit parting shotEach week Albom relies solely on his experience covering Detroit sports landscape and it drives me crazy. But today, his lack of caring about details outside of Michigan showed again. A parting shot about how Jaimis Winston was on top of the world a few years ago but is now #2 on depth chart behind Hill was certainly well written, but neglected to understand that Winston was lost for the year due to injury. Sloppy yet again.
-
TJS and BRSCoronavirusMuch better show without Lupica On Thursdays podcast you 3 (especially Lupica) went on a tirade about lies told by President Trump. Somebody should fact check the 3 of you and some of the outrageous things you have said I like the podcast better without the parting shots Mitch’s parting shot about Durrant’s and Irving’s post game interviews was interesting. I agree those 2 are obnoxious but some of the questions the press come up with are just as obnoxious Lupica took cheap shots at Andy Reid Maybe Lupica would be more comfortable in a nursing home in New York with Cuomo than with the meat head governor of Texas
-
Baby HueyLupicaDo the producers read these reviews? Your listeners are all telling you the same thing, ok…that Lupica is a windbag who won’t stop interrupting the others and will change his position at the drop of a hat, ok? Make a change please, ok?
-
M-UlyThank youListening to you three discuss all things sports always leaves me with a smile. Thanks very much, I find it very entertaining and enjoyable. On a side note, Bob Ryan is the best! No bias here….
-
lmorganshopOpinionI sure do wish Mike Lupica would allow Mitch and Bob to offer their valuable opinions. He talks over both of the, especially Bob, ALL the time. Someone need to tell him it is not the Mike Lupica Show. I give Bob and Mitch credit for putting up with it like professional journalists
-
Bobby Lee (Albion, Michigan)A comment about the November 24 podcastBob and Mitch took a few minutes to surmise why the Thanksgiving Day game hasn’t been taken away from the Detroit Lions. Mitch opined that the NFL could be afraid of losing Ford advertising dollars. My thought is the continuation of the Thanksgiving Day tradition is a reward to the Lions organization and ownership for not being an embarrassment to the NFL. As far as I know, the Lions organization has remained free of the racist and sexual scandals that have plagued other franchises.
-
JBobbitt73Bob, Bob, Bob, Ok Ok OkAnd, and. Ok, ok. And and. Ok ok. And and . Ok ok. Go ahead, go ahead Unlistenable.
-
darbaccaMike, Please stop interrupting Bob!!!I love the Sports Reporters, but I can’t stand how much Mike Lupica interrupts Bob Ryan. Bob can barely get a sentence out of his mouth without Mike stepping all over it, changing the subject or disagreeing. It is so inconsiderate and self-centered. Bob Ryan is a treasure. His comments are interesting and insightful. But Mike treats him like he’s a rambling old fool. Listen to the tape, Mike - show your co-host some respect. Let him finish talking!
-
G_8_§_HDLupica unbearableThere is nothing about sports I would enjoy or learn about from a conversation w Lupica. Maybe I would his kids (since he forces their names into each episode) but I certainly didn't show up for them. Bob and Mike offer excellent dialogue and opinions that come from years of experience as professional journalists. Thank you for continuing to share the show. Unfortunately, the 'shouter' in the room screams so loud that no one will get to hear what they want. I, like many in these reviews, download the show, listen to the opening to hear if Lupica is on, and when he is-- move on to something else.
-
DGM195Lupica, againHow many times does Lupica have to say “again…” to qualify a comment; when discussing Simone Biles he must have used this weak verbal crutch 6-7 times.
-
Eph ewelove the show but...been a decades long fan of these gentlemen, goong back to the show that aired on sunday mornings on espn. this is even better as its twice a week and for nearly an hour. only negative? allowing the producer to chime in more and more. please...keep him off of the microphone. it grinds the show to a halt, the guy is just a sports fan...we dont need to hear his take. i literally skip ahead until i no longer hear his voice. stop ruining such a good thing.
-
Bde 53Only one problem, but it’s a dealbreakerNever left a review—but… why does M Lupica interrupt all the time? PLEASE, Mike, STOP IT, or get off the show. UPDATE—I’m done. Lupica makes it impossible for me to listen. It’s every sentence, and it’s completely frustrating. It’s tragic, because they’re all good. But unless lupica Cuts it out, I won’t be listening any more.
-
CHRISTOPHERMISTOPHERLupicaIs it possible for this gasbag to let anyone get their point out before steamrolling into his next statement? Mitch and/or cannot finish a sentence without Mikey plowing into the conversation with his take. Shut up dude. PS - Nobody cares what you said to your kid, Mike.
-
lawmshHow could anyone be so narrow mindedI am vaccinated But With reports coming from American funded research in China and the Salk Institute showing the Covid vaccines’ ability to stop replication of the virus also damages healthy cells in the body (some more than others. Every human is different. No two people have the exact same response to a vaccine) along with the media reports of lost loved ones including a mother with her dead child, how can you possibly fault anyone for questioning whether or not to get vaccinated? As I said, I am vaccinated but I’m not foolish enough to think I know everything and there is obviously something wrong with anyone who disagrees with me (The height of egotistic immaturity) Especially, after not bothering to do five minutes worth of research. I expected more at least from Mr. Ryan. How am I supposed to give any credibility to any opinion you have on sports or anything else
-
mkmastMoreSo, maybe you could do three shows a week???
-
ChaulpurchBoutonIn the first 15 minutes we learn that Lupica is a mind reader, a virologist, an attorney, and a political hack. Hard to believe anyone this gifted, & LOUD, couldn’t maintain his own podcast
-
sdfghyytreBut...but...but...I love the show and rarely miss an episode. Reading about 50 of the previous reviews, as expected, people’s opinions are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The only thing everyone seems to agree on is that Mike interrupts Bob & Mitch way too much.
-
Providence RhatAgain and AgainWith all that is going on in the world of sports the guys have once again spent an inordinate amount of time complaining about a female athlete of color. Truly amazing how seemingly unaware they are how bad it sounds.
-
Lupica criticDoneI am unsubscribing from the Sports Reporters. I am tired of listening to Lupica failing to recognize that any ones opinion other than his could be correct. I am tired of his treatment of Bob Ryan who he claims to be a mentor but treats like an ill informed old man whose opinions are ridiculous and should be mocked. And the final straw was his sanctimonious treatment of people who choose not to be vaccinated. I have been vaccinated and would encourage all to do so, but Lupica,s descriptions for any one that makes their own decisions about what goes into their bodies as stupid, ill informed , imbeciles was it for me. I will no longer be a listener of the Sports Reporters
-
Mullie1Revised review - Lupica & Albom ughUpdate: I try hard to like this podcast. Bob Ryan is great and his takes on sports and sports culture are welcomed and well-informed. The guy is one of the best ever. However, recently listening to Lupica and Albom bumble their way through the pseudo psychoanalysis of Simone Biles was just pathetic. They cried that "you are not allowed to criticize Biles"....AS THEY DID JUST THAT...was comical. Their lack of understanding of complex issues (race, mental health, sexual assault, ...) is astounding. Ryan said it best as he commented "only Simone can comment on what she is going through". And right on cue, Lupica and Albom ranted about how terrible she is and what an awful legacy she is going to leave after her "poor performance" in Tokyo. Absolute garbage from those two. I will unfortunately rarely listen to that podcast in the future —————————— Past review: I enjoy the podcast however Mitch Albom speaks over everyone and his take on racial issues is pathetic. He discounts the actions and opinions of black athletes while always praising the owners and white athletes. It’s become obvious. Bob Ryan is the best and is the main reason I subscribe to the podcast. Lupica is just ok. A whiny voice and often just mentions his family or his sons, by name, to boost their careers.
-
SaginawCalSimone BilesYour collective whining about the Simone Biles story is not interesting. There are many other Olympic topics to explore.
-
Lil PrimeTimeLupicaFor the love of God, can somebody please get Lupica to stop interrupting!!! Bob has a hard enough time getting his words out without Lupica constantly talking over every one
-
JRBayAreaReporters VS. FansGuys - Please stop putting Robert Wuhl on the show. He’s not a sports reporter, he’s a sports fan. I realize he’s a friend and he’s probably a nice guy, but there must be myriad sports reporters around the country who would love to sit in now and again. You’d be doing your listeners a favor to stick with professionals who have something knowledgeable and authoritative to contribute rather than someone who’s no different than the guy sitting on the next stool at the local sports bar.
-
T-marcoVerbal QuirksI am a regular listener who enjoys the show yet I am beginning to tire of some of the quirks of the hosts. Bob will stutter and/or softly mutter his thoughts then suddenly yell out something he just remembered. Mike constantly interrupts the other two hosts and often mispronounces names an things (i.e. Wimbledon does not have a “ton” sound at the end). Also both Mike and Bob will bring up a topic or person but not specifically name what or who they are talking about. I hope they could try to improve their performances but I will not hold my breath. These guys are old and unlikely to change their ways.
-
KettlierLupicaWhy does the producer allow Lupica to constantly interrupt Ryan and Albom? It is really annoying. You all make good points Mike. No need to try and prove you are the smartest in the class.
-
GesgolfBetter than beforeWatched the original ESPN show since the early days. It was “appointment TV” for me until I had the ability to record it. Hated when it went off the air. And now I get the show twice a week?! With more content?! And just one brief (no Me Undies pun intended) commercial?! Sign me up! Also, I prefer the “looser” production/banter of the podcast to the more formal TV show. Thank you Mitch, Mike, Bob, Bill, and the rest of the rotating guests who brought back this great show in the perfect format. 👍
-
WalterMonicaPodcast versus cable tvMike asked Bob who Giannis might be compared to in history. How about Bob McAdoo? Recall his effect on the Celtics. Remarkable scorer! Minimal team effectiveness.
