Come on you guys I love you!!
I don’t want to listen to 10- 5 minute bits. I value your reporting. Give me the whole week end show! I want it all . I come to you for a reason!!

Great content, but why so many ads suddenly?
Re-upping my semi-annual complaint. This podcast has been my go to source for news for years - great content - but the drastic uptick in ads over the last few weeks is making me question my listenership. I wouldn’t mind an ad or two per day, but they seem to be on every story now, even the 2-minute ones!
  • sickkidchemist
    The ads again? Really?
Seemingly once a year I have to come in here and edit my review and rating to get y’all to stop putting ads into every single segment… do you realize how inappropriate it is to have ads before AND after incredibly sensitive stories? This is just ridiculous. Before. And after. Every. Single. Segment. Come on…

Contested election results/recounts will be a new normal
2000, Gore v. Bush in FL chad ballot recount; 2016, Ms. Clinton claimed she did not lose and to join “the resistance” to oust Mr. Trump; 2020, Mr. Trump claimed ballot harvesting in swing states. Court mandated recounts (rather than marching on the Capitol), post-election investigation for fraud/irregular procedures, party pressure on electoral college to vote other than as required should be the normal for transparency, uncover any fraud/irregularities, and lessons learned to make future elections transparent. After that, jurimandering and campaign financing reform/political action committees are part of the election rot to work on.

    Fox News Host “Liar!”

Biases have gotten so bad, accuracy is compromised
This has been my go to for daily news for a decade but time to give up and switch to The Morning Wire for simply the facts on daily news. You have lost your way as the greatest source of neutral and fact-focused news in America. Such a sad day for the great founders and prior hosts of the News Hour. Pathetic end, too. I miss most of all Gwen. I always admired her so much. I hope you can find your roots again and return to journalism from this recent foray into hardcore advocacy.

    Delivery needs to match reporting
The volume is off along side other podcasts. Release them from first to last so we don’t have to adjust this one podcast to get segments in order.

    Pretty Objective
I appreciate their efforts to remain objective. There are times I can tell they’re less than thrilled about a political party, but again the effort is there and better than anything you’ll get on Fox or CNN. For that I applaud you. The ads don’t bother me (cmon it’s PBS, let them do what it takes to stay alive. We need them). Overall I was happy to find a new source that covered the news in bite sized pieces. The best part is if I don’t want to hear about the days politics or election news I can just skip that segment. Great way to get informed without getting overwhelmed.

Love show; please lessen the America Interrupted ads
Love show and regular donator to WETA, love your work; that said, please lessen the America Interrupted add. I really like that podcast, but getting an ad 6 times a night from each segment is a bit much.
  • Jacques Graton
    Please stop.

    My go-t o news podcast, but ....
I have and will forever boycott America Interrupted. The relentless promotion is unseemly. PBS is better than that.

The new home of identity politics
Oh, how we all miss Gwen Ifill. It seems that the public broadcasting station “News” program has allowed underwriters, mainstream orthodoxy, and pandering to inform and direct their practice of journalism. In evaluating the disparate impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, has anyone on the team of journalists or the editorial board considered the impact of income inequality or poverty on health inequities and outcome disparities? The data is there and it is quite clear if you choose to look. Unfortunately, partisan hackery and appealing to division has become the new trope of the NewsHour. Very disappointing for a program that at one time could be reasonably counted on to provide a relatively fair and objective summary of issues faced by the nation. Characterizing the President as “throwing red meat to the base” when he hammers away at talking points is not only corrosive and divisive, but is also irresponsible for an institution that was once considered “The Fourth Estate.”

Great evening news update from the best in daily TV news. I like that you can scroll the segments and just get the ones you like.

Ad for corona podcast drives me nuts
Small snippets are great. News seems balanced. Not every topic starts with “President Trump...” But the ad at the top of EVERY snippet - the one for the COVID-19 podcast - drives me nuts! The guy saying what in the hell... That commercial has to GO!
  • StudentLearner
Excellent news source. Please stop the gloomy podcast promos.
Too many promos for PBS coronavirus podcast. We heard it once. That is fine. But then it repeats five or six times a day at the start of each segment with that gloomy distressing music. Great news show, but please stop the excessive number of depressing podcast promos.

Anything other than the political news, this is the place to go. Seems like there the voice of the far left political party, but when you get outside of politics it’s great stuff.

    Comprehensive, Quality Coverage

    Thanks for separating the segments.
I love having this podcast separated into segments. I can look through my phone and delete the items I choose not to hear. Saves time. . It’s so much better than having to listen to the entire hour every day. Thank you!

Before news became a profit center
There was a time public affairs programming was something that the FCC would require of the broadcast networks. News was a cost of doing business and it was good. It’s no wonder that news anchors became authoritative, trusted, household names like Walter Cronkite, John Chancellor, Peter Jennings. The news wasn’t flawless but integrity wasn’t rare and facts held the day. Then came cable news, and news as a profit center that seeks ratings, and, with the web, clicks. If you’re looking for extreme positions, polarizing debate, or manufactured controversies, sadly you won’t find it here. News as it should be.

What's up? No more audio podcasts?
I have been listening to the audio podcasts of PBS News segments in order to keep up with the "non-fake news" but it's been two days and no segments have been published! What's up? Some technical problem? While it certainly won't be "fake", by the time this week's audio segments get published they will truly be "stale"!

Love it but ongoing download issues
I do really enjoy this podcast, including breaking the show segments into...segments. Excellent reporting and I can pick and choose. However, for the past month or two, downloads have been incredibly slow. I have very fast broadband, and other podcasts come through at lightning speed. But not this one. Not sure what's happening, but there are times when the connection times out repeatedly and I have to give up and skip those episodes. Hope someone from the show picks this up!

Great, daily content. A bit too quiet.
I love the regular content but I'm consistently baffled at how low the audio is mixed. Relative to almost every other podcast I listen to, I usually have to turn this one up much louder than others just to hear it above ambient noise at home or on my commute. I can't think of another podcast for which that's a consistent issue.
  • Eigen Graff
    Good despite technical difficulties
I was surprised by how little the pbs newshour depends on the visuals. Very easy to listen to and follow. However, every so often there are segments that have the audio from a different segment (as in one gets double played, and one is just missing while each has a unique label), or segments where the audio cuts out partway through and just has a whole bunch of empty audio. This podcast has become one of my go to ways to keep up to date on news. So, I'd absolutely say it's still worth it. Just be ready to skip when needed.
  • Scramble addicts
    Good content, questionable audio
I always enjoy what I hear on this feed but I don't always here it. Sometimes the podcast is totally silent. Other times it goes silent halfway through the segment. Sometimes the segments have different titles but the audio is the same content from a previous segment. If they can sort out these details, it would be a must subscribe feed.
  • Ginnyfeet
    Great source of daily news
I appreciate that the segments are published as separate episodes. I listen to this podcast daily and supplement with some other news sources.
  • A. LOU. D.
    Podcast inconsistency
I often try to listen to this podcast on my way home from work at 8 pm. Some nights the day's episode is posted by that time. Sometimes the day's episode is not posted until the following day. Wish there was more consistency. I am so happy when it is posted a few hours after the episode is aired. Very disappointed in the reliability of the podcast posting.
  • gnidrg
    Too much election coverage
I love PBS Newshour and had watched it for years on TV, but now that I don't have cable I am delighted with the podcast. My favorite segment is Shields and Brooks. However I have stopped downloading election news because I am so weary of meaningless and nonstop speculation about what Trump might do next. There must be something else to talk about surely! This is the first time I have ever turned off PBS (or NPR) and looked for less in depth coverage.
  • Rknason
    So biased it's disgusting
I figured PBS would be interested in telling the full story but alas another media network. After listening for over a week. I have learned nothing about Hilary's positions and tons about he said she said about Donald Trump. Pathetic. I'm tired of the crap and media trying to control the public opinion.

    Download error
FYI: The podcast stopped auto-downloading from the feed on June 21st for me. It looks like the segments since have an incorrect date of Dec 31, 2000. Not sure if it's just me having problems...

    Awesome news podcast but
I wish this show could be uploaded earlier than it usually is, because I hate listening to it at night or the next day but overall I enjoy the unbiased reports

A great show ruined by cutting up its podcast
This is a great PBS legacy show which is being broadcast on NPR audio only for years which is great, but the podcast is being chopped up for no good reason which makes it impossible to listen to.

    Great Format, If It Works
I prefer the episode version rather than the full version. I like to listen to only the chapters I am most interested in. Please don't take it away.
